"That is how, folks, you talk to a do-nothing Tea Party Congressman."

So... I'm working the Stephenson County Democrats booth at the County Fair, right?

We're getting ready to call it a day when Republican Rep. Bobby Schilling walks up with an entourage of fascist Tea Baggers looking for a photo op shaking the hand of a local democrat.

I take the Congressman's hand and tell him, "We've met before, Congressman."

"You do look familiar," he tells me.

"Yeah," I tell him. "I debated Paul Ryan's bullshit budget you supported with the Tea Party's John Arn at the Rockford Public Library."

"I remember!" says the Congressman. "We're just doing what's best for America!"

"Getting rid of two tax brackets," I tell him - my voice getting a little louder, "and consolidating the rest so that middle class Americans get a tax hike isn't in my interests as an American, Congressman."

"We're going to have to agree to disagree," the guy says. "Don't you think that we're both trying to do what's best for the country?"

"Well, no, Congressman," I say to him. "I think some people have their own interests at heart, instead of the country's."

It's at this point that my voice is DEFINITELY above what could be considered a calm or level tone.

"Right down the street, here (in Freeport, Illinois), you have the Sensata company getting ready to lay off all of it's workers and ship operations overseas. Your response was to write a letter and "beg" the CEO of Sensata to reconsider the move. You are a Congressman, sir! Do you represent all those Freeport residents who are going to be soon out of a job, or do you represent the company?"

Instead of even trying to formulate any sort of reasonable response the man tries to say something about the President - but I interrupt the Congressman at that point and remind him that we're not talking about the fellow living in the White House, but just what it is he is going to do as our local Representative about a local factory closing shop shipping everything over to Communist China.

The guy knows he's not going to get any good press out of this exchange, being just a tad-bit brighter than all of his Tea Party supporters, smiles, and beats a hasty retreat without saying another word.

As he walks away I give it one more shot: "Do your job Congressman: Represent your constituients."

All the folks at the other County Fair booths around us just stand and look at me, like, 'What just happened? What did we just see?'

"That is how, folks, " I say as I return to breaking down the booth, "you talk to a do-nothing Tea Party Congressman."

Bounce, bounce, bounce . . .

One bong.
Classic bouncy without any substance.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

No bushes and no cops at the county fair, huh.

Bounce, bounce, bounce . . .

That was painful to read. "Somewhere, a dog barked" painful. 1AngryDUmmie needs to work on his dialog writing, and practice saying the dialog out loud. "You are a Congressman, sir!"  made me almost snort coffee out of my nose; I imagined an accompanying self-righteous pointed finger.

What am I saying? He's writing for his audience. The miserable wretches lap up that "speaking truth to power, in complex sentences, without taking a breath" crap. It feeds their collective delusion that they are intellectual elites.

It is easy to do this to elected officials.  Most of them will stand and smile.  You have to be Barney Frank to be able to yell back at them, call them stupid and get a pass.

This dummie is just like everyone that gets on a rant like this.  It is not my response that get the attention of all the people, it is the ignorant crap spewing from their pie hole that does it.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

In DUmmieland, the Congressman would have DEMANDED that Sensata stay, "or else".

He can represent both. Make sure the company gets a tax break (thus, more revenue and incentive to stay) and the company can use that towards the employees, by making sure they keep more of their money.

It lacked the required standing ovation of an archetype bouncy tale, so if it even more-or-less happened, it sounds like the stupid DUmmie did a great job of convincing everyone in earshot that he was a graceless idiot, and by extension that Democrats generally are not fit to govern others.  Thanks, DUmmie!

Yeah, the congressman should have done what our big-gov totalitarian Capps did. She did nothing. In fact she told the company to kindly go **** themselves. She told them we didn't need them and that another company would take their place. That was almost eleven years ago and their buildings still lie empty.

I give 2 bongs. 1 bong for starting out with a So and 1 bong for the crowd factor.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I've alerted Congressman Schilling to the thread at the DUmp, and asked him if he would like to comment on what happened that might be different than what the oneangryprimitive is spinning in their rendition.

I'll post up any response that I get here in this thread.

Umm, even if this was true, what was the expected response of the Congressman to the company moving?  Have the police keep the company in town at gunpoint?

And that would be the response of him to a statement like this: "There is nothing I can do if a company wants to leave."

of companies that move jobs overseas and give it to the workers to run in direct competition to the "job creator in China". Without the need to give huge salaries to CEOs the companies would probably make enough to give the people a lower price too.

After all, why let a little thing like the Constitution stand in the way of the socialist agenda.

Can you imagine 50 to 3,000 liberal/socialist so called "workers" trying to run a company and it stay in business.

Well it seems to me, that and 200+ billion federal dollars are doing just fine at GM.  (Hopefully through Nov.)

This is about as dumb as their obsession with Dick Cheney and their attempt to hang Haliburton around his neck as a "war profiteer".  Never mind that Sensata was purchased from Texas Instruments in 2006, long after Mitt Romney left the company.

IT'S ALL HIS FAULT. :bawl::panic:
