For lurking Freeps and cave dwellers who think Men's Wearhouse

will be intimidated buy your puny efforts...

Occupy Oakland has called for a city-wide strike and rally on Wednesday to protest income inequality, and several businesses, including Men's Wearhouse and the Grand Lake movie theater, have closed their doors in support. Oakland Tribune reporter Matt O'Brien tweeted the above photo of the shuttered men's clothing store.

The store's decision will likely meet with approval from the corporate HQ: George Zimmer, founder and chairman of Men's Wearhouse, has repeatedly donated to Democratic candidates in multiple election cycles, including progressives like 2004 presidential candidate Howard Dean and Rep. Barbara Lee (Calif.).

Zimmer is also among the nation's biggest donors supporting the movement to legalize marijuana. Last year, he donated $70,000 to support the Prop. 19 ballot measure to legalize pot in California, according to California campaign-finance records, and his name appeared in the disclaimer on this pro-legalization TV ad.

Zimmer don't give a crap about you.

What puny efforts of ours did we think they would be intimidated buy[sic]?
I have no idea what this primitive is saying.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

1. Clearly George Zimmer is one of the good guys.

I will keep that in mind the next time I need a suit or some dress shirts.

Businesses have a responsibility to keep their employees safe. This is nothing more than that.

It's like saying if a Men's Wearhouse store were on fire and the management called the employees and told them not to come in because the store is on fire, that the management were doing it in support of the fire.

They put a sign up saying they support the OWS'ers.  When a riot is scheduled, the smart thing to do is close down and hang a sign saying you support whatever it is the rioters want.

It might be a show of support if they had shut down their stores everywhere. A quick nadin and I don't find any evidence of that.

Of course not; it's just a practical business decision regarding this one store.

The way I read Motown_Johnny's post regarding "free advertising" is that he believes that OWSies will shop at Men's Warehouse as a result of their shutting down that store.  It won't work.

At least half of them do - the 1% OWSies who are slummin' it with the "common man".

It beats shopping at Wal Mart, but the really rich bastards shop at Jos. A. Banks. :stoner:

(Seriously, Wal Mart shirts suck.  They're never long enough.)

I resemble that remark.

Don't judge Jos. A. Bank by the price tag.

They're always running some kind of "buy one-get one" promotion, and they have some really good stuff.

I don't shop there anyway.  The last time I was in a Men's Wearhouse, a typical shirt was about 60 bucks.  I think I'll stick with my perfectly acceptable Stafford button downs.

I remember there was Jos. A. Banks store nearby NCSU when I was there.  I wish there was one in my neighborhood here... I'd rather do my shopping there.

That idea would work even better if the OWSholes actually buy SOAP, and actually knew how to USE it.

I Wonder what the average staff wage is in a store like that.

I also wonder if the afore mentioned CEO has any idea of what he's supporting.

Most likely it's just a PR stunt and he's well aware that the OWSers are just a powerless, pointless, rudderless bunch of deluded, drug crazed commies who will never achieve anything beyond filth distribution and criminal record accumulation.

Intimidated by our (cave dwellers') puny efforts?  I don't know what he's saying, either.  I didn't give Men's Wearhouse a single thought.   :???:

At any rate, the filthy rich OWSies who live in the million dollar homes wouldn't be caught dead in a Men's Wearhouse; and the not rich ones will never go in one either.

As for dress shirts, I think LL Bean has the best.
