Airport body scanners violate Islamic law, Muslims say
« on: February 12, 2010, 10:43:54 AM »
Quote
Saying that body scanners violate Islamic law, Muslim-American groups are supporting a “fatwa” – a religious ruling – that forbids Muslims from going through the scanners at airports.

The Fiqh Council of North America – a body of Islamic scholars that includes some from Michigan – issued a fatwa this week that says going through the airport scanners would violate Islamic rules on modesty.

“It is a violation of clear Islamic teachings that men or women be seen naked by other men and women,” reads the fatwa issued Tuesday. “Islam highly emphasizes haya (modesty) and considers it part of faith. The Quran has commanded the believers, both men and women, to cover their private parts.”

The decision could complicate efforts to intensify screening of potential terrorists who are Muslim. After the Christmas Day bombing attempt in Detroit by a Muslim suspect from Nigeria, some have called for the use of body scanners at airports to find explosives and other dangerous materials carried by terrorists. Some airports are now in the process of buying and using the body scanners, which show in graphic detail the outlines of a person’s body.

But Muslim groups say the scanners go against their religion. One option offered to passengers who don’t want to use the scanners would be a pat down by a security guard. The Muslim groups are urging members to undergo those instead.

Muslim Law violates human dignity, in the way it treats women, so  :pisscontest: on you.  I have a second idea to avoid the scanners, don't fly.

Simple solution....

No more flying for the Muslims.

Won't bother me a bit. I'm tired of looking at every damn one of them - and at all the stuff they are carrying -  before I get on a plane....and wondering if they are who they appear to be or if they are going to blow up the airport or airplane.

And it really bugs me that I'm the one getting pulled over going through security....and they walk right through!

I don't mind being "wanded"....but I've yet to set a middle eastern appearing person over there with me!  :censored:

Hmmm... and our laws require us to cover our private parts.  So we don't have to go through either!  :-)

Terror Talk Growing Louder on the Web
Exclusive: U.S. Intel Officials Seeing Spike in al Qaeda-Linked Internet Chatter Focused on Ways to Thwart Airport Security

On one radical website, a writer invites fellow members to post information on how to bypass airport screening.

Another member asks about explosive detection devices, writing: "We have that system in place in Algiers...does anyone know if it's capable of detecting [the flammable gas] butane?"

On another Jihadist site, a visitor questions security involving 3D scanners at British airports asking: "Can I refuse [to pass through] for religious reasons?"

Perhaps most disturbing -- the recent discovery of a confidential TSA document on a Yemeni Web site discussing the rules for searching passengers.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

The only real danger in flying is muslims. If the Queeran and political correctness exempts them, there's no purpose served by the scanners.

That's about what I was going to say.  I would have said, "Tough shit, if you don't like the body scanners in place to try to protect American citizens from fruitcakes like yourself, go the hell back to whatever Arab hellhole you came from and kill each other.   Otherwise, shut the hell up.

Of course, there is no requirement that people have to go through the scanners in the first place.

Anybody has the right to refuse to go through them.  Of course, then you have to submit to a hand pat-down and wanding, which is probably even more invasive.

My word, so now if we allow this crap then we have to allow the same to other faiths and there has to be be about 3000 of them in the world.

Darn it all, we do not MAKE Muslims fly, eat pork, own dogs or wander about bare headed.  All people of all faith has the RIGHT to live as they wish, sort of.  We only interfear when virgins are thrown into volcano's, Mormons marry 12 year olds or American Indians use a certain root  plant to see the future.

One must do  what one must do, it is up to them to decide how they live and not force it on others.

This crap is indeed messing with separation between Church and State.  To demand Federal laws to exempt them from from the law because of their religion  is to place us in a fine pickle.    Should the Jews demand no travel of any kind between sunset Friday and sun up Saturday.?    Shut down the airports for the Sabbath.

How about the flights that still serve food, will they go to all fish dinners on Fridays to satisfy the Catholics.

Here's a good one, what does a Muslim do when flying alone and the person in the next seat orders a rum and coke and a ham sandwitch.

This is insane, no one makes anyone go anywhere, people choose to go and must put up with what rules and regulations are in force.

It is the travelers option to go by air rail or boat, it is not up to the federal government to accommodate one group or another. Why this question even comes up in America is mind boggling.

The saying " It comes with the territory" comes to mind.
