Holy crap. This game is nuts. I'm Sparta, and I'm slowly making my way through Eur-Asia. I plan on having 3 main armies, 1 to head west towards Rome, 1 to head east, and 1 auxiliary army to protect my borders.
I've noticed some differences between Rome and Greek armies. Rome fares better in large groups. Greeks can stand on their own for awhile unless swarmed. Rome is faster across the field. Rome also has their Pilum (type of javelin) which is great for when you're about to charge in. Archers + pilum = win.
After I conquer or get bored with Sparta I'll probably try Rome on the grand campaign.
