With only one exception (smell), nothing triggers memories and emotions quite like sound. What are your favorites?
Mine:
The "whistle" on a turbo that is spooling up.
A full throttle Hemi engine (old ones, not the new).
Loud guitars.
And many more....
:-)

Favorite sounds?
A woman saying "Do me............NOW". :afro:
The sound delayed crack of the baseball bat when a home run is hit.
The bubbling sound of a warm comfortable jacuzzi.
The roar of the crowd when your favorite football team comes out of the tunnel.
The Texas Longhorns football fight song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTUJSEFKSBE
ALL the sounds of Defender video game; yes, I'm old school.
I have some more but I better keep it G-rated. :hyper:

heartbeat
Beethoven's ninth
Native American flute
The sound the Mad Rollin' Dolls' roller skates make
-
A good guitar solo in a heavy metal song (and good hard rock and heavy metal music in general)
A cat's purring
A fire in a fireplace
-
The sounds of chainsaw's, bonfires , waterfalls and high explosives.
-
65-67 VW Bug humming down the road. 68 Firebird gassing it at the stoplight.
The sound of crunching leaves under my feet, and the sound of the ocean and nothing else.
My dog whining his happy whine when I come home after a long day, or when I oversleep and he wants breakfast, and when I go to bed, the sound of his sigh, and snore beside my bed.
The perfect "thump" of a home cooked loaf of bread, and of course, the sizzle of bacon.
As far as music goes, the first chords of any Pink Floyd song. Takes me back to a different place, with each song, but memorable nonetheless.
Oh yeah, and my HS's fight song. Back to the bleachers every time.

I thought you were going to say something about a woman screaming your name. :)

For less defined, but still powerful, yet subdued sounds:
1. The whistle and the engine of a distant train, in the wee hours.
2. My dog's gentle snore.
3. Mrs E's viola when she plays a Bach sonata.
-
The crack of thunder and subsequent rain pattering down
Waterfalls
Birds chirping
Cats purring
Grandson babbling, and then the sound of silence as he sleeps
Most any sort of music with the exception of heavy metal and especially loathesome, rap and hip hop
Nothing else I could describe without getting in trouble :naughty:

This. I can barely hear the train that runs by the interstate, but it's there.
-
The rumble of thunder, and the Fox NFL Sunday theme.

Oops, I missed this one. Very definitely a favorite sound, especially in the very early morning.
-
I like the train whistle too. Very melancholy sound.
Also:
The mockingbird singing in the springtime.
The sizzling sound that a piece of meat, chicken or fish makes when it hits a hot pan on the stove.
The bell going off as the gates spring open at the beginning of a horse race.
Heavy metal guitar solos.
A cat purring.
The "Mystery Science Theater 3000" theme song.
