the Red Chinese are watching us
« on: January 09, 2010, 10:56:18 AM »
A couple of months ago, I noticed a new phenomenon; when checking ISP (internet service provider) numbers, I saw that there were some spiders and crawlers from Red China, which I had never seen before.

Usually they're from Lost Angeles or someplace back east.

Oriental spiders and crawlers are now prolifering here.

Today's probably going into six digits again.

Now, this is really skewing the statistics.

I inquired of an administrator here, if this means we're on more "search engines" and hence it brings in more human traffic, but he tells me that no, it's the Red Chinese simply "archiving" conservativecave.

So it's not like we're on more search engines.

We're being watched, and not only by the primitives on Skins's island.

And the Red Chinese by far outnumber the primitives.

They're making a list ....checking it twice.
Gonna tell Hillary who's been naughty or nice.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

We're trying to block them.  I don't know if they take the weekend off, but there are none online right now.  I spent some time on the issue last night, but I don't have server access while I'm at work so I can't do any more at the moment.

Is it possible at all to block them?  I thought not.

Anyway, they wreak havoc with the chances to collect honest numbers.

Yes, it is possible to block them based on either their IP address or host name.  Ideally, I would block their IP address or hostname at the firewall going out from our server to the internet, but I don't know where that is.  Each component of our website has its own access control list or firewall, but I haven't had any luck finding the firewall that controls the overall traffic to the site.  I'll keep looking.

So if I say, "Chairman Mao is a doody head." is probably falling on deaf ears now cause they're blocked.

Dang. And here I was all set to join the Wolverines.

I'm less concerned about the Chinese than I would be if the IP addresses were in northern Virginia. :tinfoil2:

I have no idea why that would be happening unless they're trying to find websites to block their own people from using.

If the server's running as a virtual host on an Apache webserver, you should be able to set directives in the main .htaccess file that will apply to everything in the root and down.

Contrarian Investor Sees Economic Crash in China
Quote
As most of the world bets on China to help lift the global economy out of recession, Mr. Chanos is warning that China's hyperstimulated economy is headed for a crash, rather than the sustained boom that most economists predict. Its surging real estate sector, buoyed by a flood of speculative capital, looks like "Dubai times 1,000 -- or worse," he frets. He even suspects that Beijing is cooking its books, faking, among other things, its eye-popping growth rates of more than 8 percent.

"Bubbles are best identified by credit excesses, not valuation excesses," he said in a recent appearance on CNBC. "And there's no bigger credit excess than in China." He is planning a speech later this month at the University of Oxford to drive home his point.

Of course they're watching us.  They want to collect their debt, and it is obvious we're the website populated by WORKING people.
