Something from my childhood....a nice grilled cheese sandwich paired up with a nice, hot bowl of Campbell's Tomato Bisque soup to dip it in....yummy.

I would like to see "comfort food" defined. I have an idea what it is, but I think a lot of peoples ideas about what is comfort food is varied.

Comfort food is something(to me anyway) that brings back positive childhood memories.

Comfort food is that food that does these things:

1.  Provides a rich, inviting texture on which to chew. Believe me, that's important.
2.  Yields a wonderfully full feeling in the belly, without being bloated. There's sometimes a fine line between those two.
3.  Requires one to loosen the belt, a la Frank Barone.

I agree. It's to help me and mine "feel better" regardless of the cause. It could be potato soup or chili on a cold winter night. Or homemade chicken soup when getting a cold. Or mac and cheese cause it's been a bad day.

FYI.... chocolate is NOT a comfort food. Chocolate is a NECESSITY for life.  :-)

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

T'anks! I love that movie. When I was a projectionist I showed it and turned up the auditorium volume at special times. Quite a cast, too: Burl Ives, Charlton Heston, Gregory Peck, Jeanne Simmons, Carroll Baker, Chuck Connors, Charles Bickford, Roddy McDowall, etal.

I think Lucas McCain on the Rifleman was the only nice guy part Kevin Joseph Charles Aloysius Connors ever played. All the other times I've seen him he was a mean, dirty, low-down bastid.
