Title: A big 'Howdy' from West Texas,,,
Post by: LogiQ on November 08, 2008, 01:41:47 AM

H'lo all! I'm just a plain ol' middle class West Texan Looking for some like minded folks to share some talk with.
I look to get along with all, and am known to be a jokester who can use anything for a laugh (but I can bite like Barney sometimes!).
I make friends easily, but I cull the 'enemies' even faster. I'm an old fashioned conservative with little or no left leaning tendancies.
Just give me a chance to get familiar and figure out where the eddies and undertow is at, and I'll probably swim just fine.
I hope to add another voice to a seemingly thriving forum. (Dont expect any miracles though, I generally use those to stay alive!)

Let My Browsing Begin!! :naughty: :innocent:

If you give a man a ham, he eats for a day.
If you encourage a man to be a hog, he eats for life.

If you encourage a man to be a hog, he eats for life.

If you give a man a fish he eats for a day;

If you teach a man to fish ...... he'll never go out and get a damn job!

I don't check this forum often enough, and I'm marveling at all the new folks from God's Country (Texas).

Where, in West Texas?  All my familial peeps are outside of Lubbock....... they're liberals, but I love them anyway.

George & Laura Bushs former home town, Midland, Tx. about an hour and a half south of Lubbock. Which ain't far in Texas terms. Heck it can take 15-17 hours to drive clear across the state depending on where you start. Lubbock's just a hop- skip- and a jump from here!! :-) (120mi.)

My family is in (aptly named) Plainview, about 50 miles north of Lubbock.  And I do know about Texas travel....I had an uncle who left Vernon to settle in the hillcountry, and he drove back and forth like it was a trip across town, all the time.

Welcome!!!!! :-)

ETA:  next time there's a Texas meetup in the Midland area, I may just have to show up!  That would be a blast!  Now I just have to figure out how to get this by the husband...... "What's the big deal?  Sure, I only know them from the internet, but they're all great people!"

Sounds so logical to me........  :cheersmate:

I used to drive home on leave from San Diego to just north of Dallas. It took me 12 hours to get from San Diego to El Paso and another 12 hours to get from El Paso to home.

I lived in Lubbock and worked for a Seismic Survey company out of Midland. 120 miles to work and back was nothing in those days. The funnest ones were 120 miles to work, 100 each way out and back into the field and then 120 home. Never leaving Texas.
