China is a filthy dirty country with an-unelected communist oligarchy that enslaves their population with propaganda and brute force.
Things made in China before they come into the US are inspected to prevent the filth from coming here.
There was a breakdown in the chain during the recession.

Right now there is an outbreak of bed bugs in the country, they were imported from the filthy communist. In order to get productivity gains in the recession/depression Victoria Secret and Abercrombie cut back on their inspection teams.
Simple equation, less money less women buying expensive bras and less parents handing teenagers money for $70 pairs of jeans.
Quality is taking a hit in some products and companies are cutting corners. I advise you inspect any merchandise, particularly clothing very carefully before you purchase it.
