Apologies to Aesop...

Quote
The Socialist and the Capitalist

A socialist and a capitalist meet on the bank of a stream and the
socialist asks the capitalist to carry him across on its back. The
capitalist asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The socialist
says, "Because if I do, I will die too."

The capitalist is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the socialist stings the capitalist. The capitalist feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"

Replies the socialist: "Its my nature..."

More madman management: Feds to pressure TARP CEOs to resign?

Once again, the Obama administration sticks its fingers into the boardrooms, through the facility of TARP funding.  Under normal conditions, of course, the US government would have absolutely no say in the hiring decisions and compensation practices in the private sector, leaving those policies to stockholders.  This White House has shown itself adept at using TARP as a lever to force companies to bend to their will and dance to their tune.  With Obama, that tune will undoubtedly sound populist and biased; think “Look for the Union Label” instead of Pink Floyd’s “Money”.

This is the bald face of the corporatism the DUers have for so long pretended to be against.

I don't know what the consensus is here at the Cave, or if there even is one, but I'm finding it harder day in and day out to blame the scorpion (Obama). The above story combined with the actions of many CEO's and having just finished the April issue of The American Spectator leave me thinking the frog was most to blame all along. If we can't hold the capitalist to a higher standard than the ignorent yobs in government, we don't deserve a free market. (granted, I use "capitalist" in the loosest sense possible which is the entirety of the problem)
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."
