I'm trying to think of a vegetable I don't like, outside of cooked greens that is.

For me, there isn't a single fruit or veggie, I cannot find a way to enjoy.
I cannot stand fake crab, amphibious reptiles, bugs and the like.   Not real fond of some South Pacific recipes.  All in all, I like most traditional food.

Tiny, the fake crab is what started this whole diatribe.  I can't believe there's even a market for it!

Amphibeous reptiles...are you talking about frogs legs?  I never have tried one.  I can't past those little thighs and calves.

I like the question that George Carlin had when discussing frog's legs.

A lot of the people around here that go gigging for frogs just chop off their back legs, and let rest of the frog crawl around on their front legs until they die or get eaten.

When we go gigging and find any like that, we always chop off their heads.  I know they are just frogs, but I still think it's cruel to let them suffer.

Lima beans should be cooked slowly with lots of butter.

Cabbage is only good for kimchi, cole slaw, or corned beef.
Oh, I can come up with a few other dishes, for cabbage.
Sweet and Sour Beef With Cabbage Soup
Smoked Sausage With Cabbage and Apples
Peanut, Carrot and Cabbage Slaw
Cabbage Wedges with Lime Dressing

I make a Seven Bean Salad, that rocks.
2 cans green beans
1 can wax beans
1 can red kidney beans
1 pinto beans or navy beans
1 black eyed peas
1 garbanzo beans
1 can baby lima beans
COMBINE MEANS IN A LARGE BOWL  ADD THE FOLLOWING:
1 med. diced onion
1/2 med. green pepper, diced
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. vinegar
1/2 c. salad oil
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
REFRIGERATE AT LEAST 6 HOURS.  OVERNIGHT, EVEN BETTER,  WILL KEEP FOR A FEW WEEKS, IN THE FRIDGE.
Simple, fast and delicious.

leave out all the beans except for the green and the wax beans and it sounds great!  :-)
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

I'm talking frog legs, gator tail, turtle, etc.
I have tasted all the above.  I just don't like any of the above.

I make the same bean salad minus the pinto and black eyed peas.

I also love cabbage in lots of things.  I put cabbage wedges in my stews and shreded in my soups.

I also use a lot of cabbage when I make my version of chow mein.

Green onions, cabbage, celery, mushrooms, pea pods, water chestnuts and bean sprouts stir fried, then add meat (whatever you like) and a little corn starch mixed with a little stock and soy sauce.  Heat through and serve over rice or noodles. Yum.  Better than anything you can get in a restaurant.

The secret is to have everything pre-chopped and only cook til tender crisp.  I start with the more dense vegetables, like the celery, and add the bean sprouts last.  I don't really want them cooked too much.

Egg whites.  McDonalds is pushing a new breakfast sandwich made with egg white only.  No.

Low fat versions of stuff.  Low/no fat mayo, italian dressing, cheese, "butter" imposters, cottage cheese.  Yuck!  Eat the real thing, only a little less, and take a walk.

I tried a "breakfast sandwich" at Subway recently.  It was awful.  A pre-cooked disc of scrambled "egg" was the only breakfast-y part of the entire sandwich and I regretted ordering it almost immediately.

Much better to eat the real thing! All that so called healty, fat free, lo-cal, lite, etc are ridiculously full of carbs. I've turned into a label reader on a lot of things, and some of those healthy dinner things have 75 or more carbs in them!!

I read somewhere that the burgers and cheeseburgers are some of the healthier choices at fast food places.

Yep. The worst part of the burger is the bun.

Protein burns fat. Carbs are sugar, even if they start out as a starch.... and so much harder to burn up.

But, if you are worried about the carbs, Viva Low Carb has low carb burger rolls.  A bit chewy, but great for diabetics and fat people like me. :-)

I'm just going to put this un-rec in this thread.  I was at the grocery store, committing the mistake of Shopping While Hungry, and made an impulse purchase.  It was Tai Pei frozen General Tso's chicken, and a separate chicken fried rice.  They come in little Chinese food boxes.

They.  Were.  Awful.  What extremely scant chicken there was, was rubbery.  The rice was gummy and the vegetables were mushy.  Worst of all, peas littered the whole thing.  Utterly tasteless.

In other words, don't waste your money.  If I'd wanted a cup of rice, I'da made it myself for 5 cents.

The only frozen Chinese food we'll try are pot stickers. They don't seem to be able to screw those up, no matter who makes/sells them.
