Gas! Anyone else pissed as hell!?

WTF happened to gas prices? It can't be due to supply/demand, refinery capacity or ANY OF THAT BULLSHIT that they told us each time the wind blew hard in the Gulf of Mexico.

So how was that NOT price-fixing and collusion? What happened to all our money?

Does anyone else feel that someone picked their pockets for the last year over the price of gas?

Does anyone have an explanation?

Is anyone asking for one?

Anyone here at DU understand how gas station prices get fixed? Cause I sure don't.

We have a gas station here in my area that closed down a year ago or so. The 4.09 cent sign is still hanging there, just a couple of blocks from signs that say 1.89 now.

What about Peak Oil? What about lack of refineries? WTF!?

It's a very large bonfire.

1. I paid $1.68.9 cents/gal to fill my tank yesterday and I fully expect to

And since I've been pissed at oil companies over 20 years I set up my life so I rarely have to buy the stuff.

19. Gas stations make little money off gas.

They have to pay the same prices we do, or nearly, for the gas they buy for their stations.

26. OIL companies are in business to make a profit...just like every other business. It is their fiduciary duty to maximize profits. Gotta love capitalism, eh?

They have to maximize profits so as to pay taxes so as to pay for social programs.

It's working, too. Already Pickens (no more "I hate Pickens" threads, please! It's not germane to the point) has said it has become very difficult to find backers for his windmill project, because if gas is so cheap, what's the point.

Gas was what, $2.50 a gallon and climbing, 2 1/2 years ago when Nancy Po-Lucy said that if you elected democrats they'd do something about the price of Gasoline. Well you DUmmies elected her and the democrats and they did something about the price of gas.....it went to over $4 a gallon.

Remember when the prices got so high?  On TV and the press (from all ideological sides) discussed, debated, and analyzed the causes and what to do about it.  The best minds couldn't come up with the one true cause or the one golden solution.  Energy economics are so incredibly complex, it takes entire think tanks to even begin to analyze it.

But, moonbats can only go one place:  IT MUST BE PRICE-GOUGING!!!!!!
(Even high-priced/placed moonbats like Pelosi, Obama, et.al.)

If there was any price gouging going on, I would look to OPEC! But of course the DUmmies think we manipulate them so, it would have been George W. who had them by the balls to cause it!

Shouldn't this be their que to claim that the oil comapanies saw on the horizon that B. Hussein was going to win and so they had to stop gouging?

Yep, oil is $4/gal and they cry that it's too high and poor people are gonna die.  Now it's too low and everyone in the world will die from global warming.  Lunatics are more mentally stable than the DUmmies.

Of course, with people buying less gas, the stupid states will have to find some way to make up the revenue they just can't live without by initiating a mileage tax.  So we'll get to watch the DUmmies complain about how that hurts the poor and that gov't is keeping track of their driving habits.  Of course, with B. Hussein in office they'll probably switch gears and decide it won't really hurt the poor and the gov't knowing where they are is to be admired.  :mental:
