After Nancy Pelosi, who?
Disclaimer: I support her as speaker for as long as she wishes to serve. If I had my wish, she's be speaker for life.
So, with my bias made clear, who do you think should succeed her? And if you care to, why?

12. No
I have nothing against her, but if she's Speaker in January 2023, then we're in big trouble in November 2024. I like her but not at the expense of the Party.

15. Cheri Bustos,
mark my words. She is being groomed for the spot.
Of course, Nancy can serve as long as she likes. She is wonderful.
Who is Cheri Bustos, and why is this porn star name in Congress?

21. My two choices probably wouldn't want the job, preferring to chair their respective committees
Those would be Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff.
I rather suspect that Pelosi is seriously looking at possible successors for later on. She is known for playing the long game. I've never met Cheri Bustos in person, though I've chatted with her on the phone. She is personable, bright and hard-working, though I don't know if she has the killer instinct a good Speaker needs to have hidden just behind the obligatory smile.

Well, of course the sparkling old dude would prefer Nan.
Even though the sparkling old dude, now in his seventies, was raised on the mafia-dominated mean streets and alleys of Bridgeport, Connecticut, for some decades now he's been associated with the former d'Alesandro organized crime cabal in Baltimore, Maryland.
Nan of course is the daughter of the founder of that crime cabal, Thomas d'Alesandro, who was later mayor of Baltimore and a congressman from Baltimore. This was during the 1950s, 1960s. And then his son Thomas Jr. followed in his footsteps.
Nan and her husband were sent out to California during the 1960s to open up a branch there.
The sparkling old dude may look like a balding nondescript wimp nagged by his much-younger trophy wife, but actually he's lived quite an interesting life.

I haven't heard of her either, but this factoid tells me all I need to know about her:

31. I am in the 16th,
but I support Bustos financially and go to some of her events. She is indeed a hard worker. Dick Durbin has mentored her since she was a youngster babysitting for his children.

"Mentored".

Two of Miss Nancy's daughters are in the political world. Her son runs trail ultra-marathons, so maybe his energies go outside of the political world.

...and there it is. I always look for the name drop.

I do that too, and like you I'm rarely disappointed.

.
You know, I wonder why Marc does that.
He's wealthy, he lives the life of Riley in Germany, and yes, he's not exaggerating when he talks about all the famous people he knows, and meets with. He's a well-known contributor to the far-left Nation magazine.
He's so many levels above the primitives.
So why this burning need to impress them?
It's like a member of the Country Club set trying to impress the Tobacco Road mob.
