how do I
« on: January 11, 2015, 10:13:35 PM »
"Microsoft Works Word Processor" is the name of the program.

How do I find, and insert, the British pound-sterling sign into the text?

For those thinking franksolich is just being lazy, I've gone through the whole deal, checking everything on the top toolbar of the program, trying to find how to insert it.  No luck.

Hold down your alt key and type 156 on the numeric key pad. Make sure the num lock is on.

Windows has a Character Map.  It's available under Accessories.

Thank you too, Chris_, sir, but I saw that table, and for the life of me, couldn't find the £ symbol.

This is what I'd gotten:

I'll be damned if I see any £ sign there.

Under the font menu, change it to Arial or whichever font you're using, and use the scroll bar to move up and down until you find the symbol you want.  Once you find it, click on it and select 'Copy'.  Once it's copied, you can paste it into your document.

The character map also gives you the ASCII (Alt) code.

Thanks, sir, but come to think of it, for all the writing that I do, the £ is the only "odd" symbol I ever need.
