What signs of the rich getting super-richer are you seeing in your area?
 I reside in a rural community located in a county that happens to have the distinction of being second highest in the nation for interest-earned income. It is a really beautiful place, geographically. Our town doesn't appear wealthy, and most of the people here are not wealthy. I do, after all, teach in a school with 50% of the student body living at or below the poverty line. Hey, at least the Republican Women of ___________ County group donates dictionaries to the elementary kids each year, but the dictionaries have a label stating that they were donated by the Republican Women of _________ County group for a little shameless promotion. They also get a photo op. in the local rag each year for this effort. We do appreciate the dictionaries, though, and the kids love them. But I digress.

My casual observation: I live near the small airport and have noticed a substantial increase over the last few years of lear jet traffic. It seems to me that the wealthy, who used to drive or be chauffeured out here, can now afford to jet out here to visit their country places.

Funny how he doesn't mention where those planes are coming FROM.  Or where he is located that has such a horrific poverty rate.

Maybe Anne Pritchart, Pam Dawson, nadin, et al, could utilize the dictionaries.  I see that Anne in particular could use them to learn the difference between "effect" and "affect".

The caption on that newspaper photo is revealing. In a school with 50% at or below the poverty level, the taxpayers support a principal, a director of community relations (whatever that is), an instructional coach (whatever that is), an instructional dean (whatever that is), and an assistant principal. There was no room in the photo for any more bureaucrats.

I remember when kids learned reading, writing, and arithmetic, when elementary schools had a principal and a staff of teachers. Exceptionally big schools might have an assistant principal.

You can bet the ranch that if a school levy fails, school buses will be eliminated before they get rid of their "director of community relations".

I like to take my private jets low, buzz poor neighborhoods, and empty the washrooms over the drinking water systems of the poor. Me and my buddies are drinking bottled water in plastic bottles that will never biodegrade, we don't worry.

Well, the signs of the rich are getting richer in my neighborhood are that I'm getting a big raise at work (like 25%! Woo Hoo) and a new vehicle!

Does Mercedes make a pickup? And do they have solid gold knobs and such on the dash, console and doors?

All due to my extraordinary and exempliary performance on the project I'm working now. It had been teetering on the edge of the toilet bowl lid, ready for a flushing. But I, through sheer strength of character, tireless effort and the willingness go the extra mile, do the tasks right, assign the correctly skilled crafts and individual personnel drug it back, kicking and screaming, to cross the finish line on time and under budget.

(Blowing on fingernails and polishing them on my shirt.)

As I told the staff on the first day on site, There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. So pick it up or pack it up. The gate swings both ways and the only cure for the red ass is road dust.
