It's not often that I post a new thread here at CC, but I wanted to give all of you the chance to chew on this liberal chew-toy for a bit so that I can get your responses to this thesis. My argument is that "the left" has already won on all the great social issues of our time. Sooner or later (and probably sooner) we'll see all these "advances" codified into law. Here's the list:
1. Abortion. Still legal, even though the Republicans who controlled all of government from 2003-2006 could have made it illegal. They didn't, and they never will. While some further restrictions to this right have passed in various state legislatures, those will be repealed in time. Nobody has the political guts to actually strip this right away from women, and I don't see that happening any time soon.
2. Gay Marriage. Already legal in several states, and it will become legal in all 50 states (except, perhaps, Utah) within the next 20 years.
3. MJ legalization. Already legal in Washington and Colorado, it won't be long before MJ is legal for growth, sale, and recreational use in all 50 states.
4. Civil Rights. While the SCOTUS has neutered the Voting Rights Act of 1965, it's clear that the races in this country are moving towards parity in terms of their legal rights. This change is slow (still far more black men in prison than white men, as a percentage of the total population), but it is coming. We even have a 1/2 black President. The differences in income and power between the races in the United States is narrowing.
5. Many more. In numerous ways, we are seeing the development of a country that is
socially very liberal, far more so than I imagine the posters on this forum would like.
So, I ask, do you agree or disagree?
Has the left already won on all the great social issues of the day, or not?
What's your opinion?

Edit:Laelth--It was the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that was recently neutered, not the Civil Rights Act of 1964. My bad.
