The level of surveillance in America and the world
« on: November 24, 2013, 09:05:57 AM »
Just wondered what people think of this issue? I was reading that some of the surveillance capabilities of the NSA have violated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Is this true?

Where can people see this going? Is it true that those who have done nothing wrong have nothing to fear?

Papers please.

It depends upon who is defining "wrong."  To some, merely posting on this board could be considered wrong.

Well for the conspiracy people... all they have to do is watch the movie "EYEBORGS".
It was on the SCFI channel the last few days.

It seems that conservatives and liberals alike share their concerns over this issue.

Yes, I guess it does depend on what is wrong.

Control by stealth? But some of my buddies would say that conspiracy theories were paranoid! We all need to be safe.

But what price security? The gradual establishment of greater and greater control - leading who knows where?

It seems that conservatives and liberals alike share their concerns over this issue.

While there is some truth to that, it is also true that many mainstream 'Conservatives' and Liberals are perfectly fine with a complete police state level of surveillance if it means more 'Security,' on our side (Allegedly) including Christie and McCain.

Yes, that's true.

I'm undecided on the issue, having heard both sides.

I would prefer to keep my liberty and privacy and protect myself instead of giving that up for 24/7 surveillance and security.

Here is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Which section, specifically, does NSA surveillance violate, and what recourse is available under the Declaration to those whose "human rights" have been violated?

This one - and these are the views of my college lecturers, not necessarily my own.

Yes, I guess it does depend on what you think is wrong.

Fixed it.

Also, the "Declaration of Human Rights" is not a law. It's only a statement; obviously not accepted world-wide.

I strongly suggest you answer Big Dog's question -- with YOUR thoughts, not those of your college professors.

Here it is again, just in case you missed it:

Keep in mind that vacillating on this and other questions is a tactic we've seen before. This tactic, usually practiced by trolls, is easily seen and determined.

Of course, a man wise in the ways of a sadly imperfect world would practice operational and signal security as much as possible, and communicates with the assumption that everything he sends in voice or print may be heard or read by other parties than those for whom it was intended.

I'm disappointed.

The little punk didn't give me the opportunity to ask him my follow up questions, about the source of rights in the "universal" declaration of rights, and its enforceability against sovereign nations.

United Nations is corrupt and anti American (the authors of that document you asked about). We have no need for an additional document that some "other Group" will try to enforce. We are a sovereign country with our on documents, we have no need of theirs thank you. The sooner we are out of that terrorist group the better. As far as the NSA well I am sure they will see this, and i think they have violated our rights under OUR own laws. I dont give a shit about UN rules and laws. Next question?
