Incomprehensibly bizarre. It appears Teh Wun is paving the way to claim our neutrality of treatment between Israel and her adversaries in an attempt to position our country for almost-certainly-pointless (If not downright dangerous) negotiations for sanctions on Iran.
It does greatly overstate Israeli innocence in past excursions into spying on one's own allies, though.
Spying on allies is of course simply a part of the spying game, the less dangerous part. Countries do not have 'Friends,' they have 'Allies.' That relationship stands as long as, but no longer than, they have mutual interests. When those interests diverge, so does the closeness of the alliance.
It is a gross mistake to ever succumb to anthropic projection when talking about the motives and actions of nations.
