I even registered from my phone.  However, I had to use the Opera browser instead of mobile IE.  Remind me to show you how I can stream live TV (along with all my movies and music) to my phone.

I hadn't noticed you using our cool WAPI interface, or I certainly would have gushed accordingly. :-)

I am actually trying to find a way around WAPI when I want to;  I can't do admin stuff via WAPI.

I recommend Opera Mobile.  It can change the user-agent such that the page believes you are a desktop user.

This WAPI interface is great, but there are still some gripes (such as quotes not being marked).

Are their people here who could help me set up a similar WAPI interface?  My online gaming clan has a SMF based forum.  It has WAPI, but no navigation (no forum list, go up a level, etc)
Title: Re: Another CU outage refugee
Post by: InfamousAndy on May 09, 2008, 11:07:25 AM
I was partially mistaken.  Go up a thread is there, but you have to work to get to a thread.  The main page is just the most recent news posts.  You have to click on a poster's name to bring up their profile, then click 'show all posts by this user' to get to forum links

The WAPI interface autodetects that you are on a wireless device, and automatically serves up a
rather dramatically reduced subset of the site functionality.

Everything you need to surf the forums, reply to posts, send and receive PMs, is all there.

But it is what it is;  limited.

I'm not completely sure what you mean by "set the WAPI homepage".  basically, the URL for the WAPI version
of every page on the site is the same as the normal URL, tagged at the end with ";wap2"

What I mean is that when you visit this site, the first page is recent news topics instead of the forum listing.
Title: Re: Another CU outage refugee

What I mean is that when you visit this site, the first page is recent news topics instead of the forum listing.

When I navigate to www.conservativecave.com on my blackberry, I see a complete forum listing, and then
additional options at the bottom; PM inbox, unread posts, and unread replies.

it sounds like you are looking at the WAPI version of "unread posts since your last visit".  I think if you go up
one level, you will see everything you are looking for.

I think you misunderstood me.  Sorry for not being clear.  Conservative Cave works just fine.  It is another SMF page that gives me trouble (my gaming clan's page).  I was wondering if someone could tell me where to look to get that page to behave like this one.  I believe it is a simple configuration change somewhere.

no, we weren't communicating at all.  I'm afraid I have no idea;  SMF comes out of the box with support for WAP,
WAP2, and I-mode devices.  we just turn it on.

sorry.

Wow, I am surprised so many people remember me!

@Rob
Furries can be fun to mess with.  It was hilarious when I got Storm to admit that he was looking for an echo chamber to validate himself.  To some, the furry thing is an innocent hobby.  To others, it is a delusional escape from reality.
