  • All in all, not bad, not bad at all
DUmmy Twix has an imaginary emigration problem. Aside from zero chance for a visa from any country where leprosy and smallpox are rare, after cashing out his life savings his net worth will be less than airfare to Des Moines. So he takes a break from this difficult fictional planning challenge to spin a quick bouncy lie about socialized medicine. It's interesting because it's DUmmy Twix's first attempt at the well-known Pittian device of made up direct quotes:

I was talking to my friend today about healthcare.... God I love the minds at DU
I was talking to my friend today who I am seriously considering not calling a friend much longer.

This was the conversation

HER: So what do you think of this health care law?
ME: Some kind of reform was needed. What do you think?
HER: I think it's bad.
ME: Why?
HER: Uh well I heard some things on TV I can't remember specifically. It is going to hurt me and you because we are middle class.
ME: How much money did you make last year?
HER: About $13,000 (yes, she considers this middle class)
ME: You are not middle class. Neither am I. You also don't have insurance through work.
HER: Well I think people should just be able to not have it. We shouldn't have to pay for other peoples health care.
ME: So what are you going to do if your 6 year old gets a serious illness and is going to die?
HER: Well I will just sign up for medicaid.

FACEPALM.

She's my friend, but god she is a moron to talk to unless it involves some reality TV show. This is why I love DU so much. I can't seem to locate anyone in real life who isn't a moron.

People who know DUmmy Twix in real life are very familiar with that moron problem.

The noob carpetmuncher, who has a username that countless moles would die for, thinks DUmmy Twix is telling a true story:

2. Did you point out
by signing up for Medicaid, she's essentially getting other people to pay for her health care?

I see nothing wrong with helping others but...obviously she has a problem with paying for other people's health care....until she needs someone to pay for her health care.

The point of insurance is to SPREAD the risk around. Even if you receive insurance through work, someone else is helping pay for your care.

The only difference on many topics between "moron hood" and "non-moron hood" is info gleaned on DU.

4. I was reading a letter to the editor. Just recently . The letter writer wss on this huge rant about "You cannot start taxing the top one percent of the people in this nation and expect that action to make up the majority of the tax base. It won't work. That top one percent doesn't have that kind of money."

But from what I have read and learned on DU, I know that letter writer is wrong.

No, the letter writer is right, and there is no "learning" at the DUmp.  Someone followed that by saying "that letter is scary!"  Boo.

Since you're on DU, you appear to have the same problem on-line.

What's with all the facepalm shit? Everybody has to use the new and improved catch phrase.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Okay...this twit person...thought it was a guy but who knows is thinking about not being friends with someone because they don't have the same opinion on health care. Wow, what a friend. She (of course) is uninformed just with some vague reason she heard on TV while the wise DUer has all the answers. But still, showing the usual DU compassion for their fellow man considers whether drop said person from the friend roster because twit believes his "friend" doesn't seem to understand the "benefits" of a 2300 page bill that people are still sifting through. It appears they have nothing in common because the friend only knows about reality TV and nothing else. Managed to raise a child to at least age six, but is still a moron. Perhaps the real moron is this twit person who doesn't have enough sense to choose a friend it has more in common with.

True, but just not in the way she meant it.

Un-frikkin' believable! These asshats actually believe they are the smartest people on the planet!

Hey Twinkie! Tell your friend to take her 6 year old to the damn emergency room!

After they get done working on all the illegal immigrants, they will gladly help your 6 year old out. More than likely for free, as $13,000 damn near puts you in the free, gimme, gimme,  line! Just ask your asshat bud, Twink!

17. Middle class?
In my State, 13K is 1,500 over the poverty line for a family of 2. So around here, she's probably legally in poverty, after adjustments and such. If not legally, certainly realistically.
