I am far from the authority on computers. What I know I know only because it has facilitated my personal requirements, i.e. upgrading a graphics cards so I can blast the shit out of Tangos.

However, the rule of bureaucracies is that if you know 10% more than anybody else in the room you are the subject matter expert. Most of the retards--I mean--engineers I work for can't even share their Outlook calendars or listen to instructions long enough to be educated in the subject. So, I send them out of the room for coffee and when they come back shit works again.

Word long ago trickled down to the G6 (Information Management staff branch) concerning my "exploits." As an additional stroke of good fortune the O6 running the shop was also my brigade commander on the M-Day side before I transferred out for my promotion. He even made it a personal point to pin me with the AAM I recieved for helping the police nab a DUI. So I got street cred with him.

He has asked that I be appointed IMO (Information Management Officer...as an E5?) for the directorate I work for.

That includes funding to obtain a Security+ certification.

Now, like I said, I'm not the most savvy bunny when it comes to all this high-fallutin' stuff but just a cursory nadin of the subject seems like its no small deal. It also seems a bit overkill-ish. It's not like I'll be on the SIPRnet but then again most of our stuff is FOUO so we haz protocolz.

This seems like a good deal for a rabbit's resume.

So how big a deal is Security+ anyway?

The army tends to over dramatize everything so it's hard to gauge whether or not something is "a big deal."

When it comes to computer security "overkill" is not nec a bad thing, A pain in the but but not nec bad.

for every security measure put in place there are a untold number of idiots  working on a go around measure.

What is funny about this is I am a professional geek who currently works as a DBA and my last job I was the director of a college IT department / professor and yet if I have an outlook question I will ask my wife
