Just heard on local NPR radio station. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 6 staffers were just shot at an outside event in Tucson, AZ.

That was my first thought too with what has been released so far.
Sounds like they caught the guy and hopefully she recovers and he is prosecuted to the full extent.

I notice they omit saying 'White' or 'Caucasian' man in his late teens or early 20s.  I have my own supposition on the probable meaning of this, though of course it could be simply shitty reporting, being NPR.
