I specifically love his Harry Bosch novels. Harry Bosch is the guy that I have always tried to be in my real life. He is intelligent and perceptive, he doesn't tolerate bullshit, and he gets the job done no matter what. I have read all the novels including the most recent, The Drop. If you haven't picked up a Michael Connelly book, do yourself a favor, this guy is a genius.

I read a few of the first books in the series and liked them. They also made me look up Hieronymous Bosch's artwork. some weird stuff. https://www.google.com/search?gcx=w&q=hieronymus+bosch&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=J_bmTpqpDJTAtgfdkqzFCg&biw=1152&bih=749&sei=KfbmTsbdFIPMtgedhamGCg

Yeah that's part of his character and his back story. His mother, who was a prostitute and was murdered when he was a child, named him after Hieronymous Bosch. She saw something in the painting that resonated with her life.
