The outrage began with a video showing police arresting the 46-year-old in south Minneapolis Monday night.
“I can’t breathe! Please, the knee on my neck,” Floyd is heard saying in the video.

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The apartment complex under construction in south Minneapolis that burned Wednesday night and into Thursday morning was a mixed-use development which would have provided affordable housing for the area.
The site of Midtown Corner is in the former Rainbow Foods parking lot located at East Lake Street and Hiawatha Avenue. Flames ripped through the wood-framed, six-story building Wednesday night and could be seen for several city blocks well into the morning hours.
The rioters have destroyed an apartment under construction. It was meant to provide affordable housing in the area. This is madness! :censored: :mad: :argh:

The Twin Cities continued to convulse Thursday in the wake of the Memorial Day death of George Floyd while being restrained by a Minneapolis police officer, another chaotic chapter in America’s — and Minnesota’s — long reckoning with the killing of unarmed black men by law enforcement officers.
Framed by grief and rage over Floyd’s death and uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic, the day came in waves: Buildings burned. The police chief apologized. Prayer circles formed at the site of Floyd’s killing. Business owners boarded up windows. Post offices closed.
And Gov. Tim Walz called in reinforcements — the first time the Minnesota National Guard has been activated for a civil disturbance in 34 years. More than 500 Guard members have been activated and sent to Minneapolis, St. Paul and other communities, the Guard said in a tweet late Thursday.

ATLANTA — Protesters set a police car on fire, struck officers with bottles, vandalized the headquarters of CNN, and broke into a restaurant in downtown Atlanta as a demonstration that started peacefully quickly changed tone Friday evening.
Protesters used barricades to break police vehicle windshields and jumped from car to car. Hundreds of the protesters confronted police outside CNN headquarters. They spray-painted the large, iconic CNN logo outside the building, breaking a windowed entrance. One protester climbed on top of the sign and waved a “Black Lives Matter” flag to cheers from the crowd.
Protesters pelted officers who came over with bottles, striking some of them. Other bottles thrown at authorities exploded behind the police line, but no officers appeared to get hit. Protesters chanted, “Quit your jobs.”
The riot is spreading throughout the nation.

The elected officials who are letting this happen need to be arrested.
As soon as the first rock or bottle is thrown, the demonstration turns into a riot and it should be stopped with any means that is necessary.
If this were a bunch of conservatives protesting the closure of churches the result would be a lot different.

O'Conner wrote the letter to Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, calling it a "dire situation" and imploring Evers to send help via the Wisconsin National Guard.
The letter cites the Minnesota Fusion Center – part of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension – alerting Minnesota authorities that "70,000 to 75,000 agitators are traveling today from locations such as Kansas City, Chicago, Ohio and other parts of the country to the Twin Cities. "
75,000 agitators or terrorists are in the Twin Cities area. Very troubling.

5,000 National Guard troops mobilized across 15 states, D.C.

The National Guard will deploy troops across 15 states as well as Washington, D.C., the organization announced in a press release.
Governors reached out to activate Guard assistance ahead of demonstrations on Saturday night, when protests turned into violent riots. Even Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has asked for assistance, saying that these are no longer protests over the death of George Floyd, the unarmed black man who died in police custody on May 25: “This is destruction. This is vandalism.”
The Guard has announced that it has activated around 5,000 troops as of Sunday morning to deploy to states across the country, with another 2,000 troops on standby. The troops will deploy to California, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Daktoa, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and the District of Colubmia.
The National Guard should of been deployed when the first sign of rioting happened.

At least one person was killed and two more injured as gunfire broke out among Saturday’s violent George Floyd protests in Indianapolis, police revealed late Saturday.
“We are investigating multiple shootings Downtown,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) tweeted early Sunday, stressing that they were “NOT officer-involved incidents.”
“Downtown is not safe at this time. Residents are advised to avoid the area,” the force warned.
The fatality and injuries were revealed just before midnight in a hastily-called late-night press conference by IMPD Police Chief Randal Taylor, according to the Indianapolis Star.

New York's top terrorism official says there's evidence that members of anarchist groups from outside the city intentionally planned to incite violence at protests calling for justice in the death of George Floyd.
Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence and Counterterrorism John Miller said there is a high level of confidence within the NYPD that these unnamed groups had organized scouts, medics, and supply routes of rocks, bottles and accelerants for breakaway groups to commit vandalism and violence. There are strong indicators they planned for violence in advance using at times encrypted communications, he said.
One out of every seven arrests, of 686 so far since May 28, have been people from out of state, according to Miller. He said those arrested came from Massachusettes, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Iowa, Nevada, Virginia, Maryland, Texas and St. Paul, Minnesota.

A senior official in the direct chain of command for defending Washington D.C. told Fox News that more than 50 Secret Service officers have been injured Sunday night so far, and that some rioters are throwing bottles and Molotov cocktails.
As observed in New York City and elsewhere, groups in D.C. are planting cars filled with incendiary materials for future use, Fox News is told.
U.S. Marshals and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents have been deployed to the streets of D.C. in an extraordinary move to beef up security alongside the National Guard, local police, and Homeland Security agents, including the Secret Service, the Justice Department confirmed late Sunday. Fox News has learned U.S. Attorney for D.C. Mike Sherwin is heavily involved in the operation.
As authorities clashed with demonstrators for the third straight night, the parish house connected to the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church across the street from the White House was also set on fire late Sunday. The parish house contains offices and parlors for gatherings. The basement, which was also on fire, is used for childcare during church services, and had recently undergone renovations.

The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) building was also set ablaze near the White House. The AFL-CIO is one of the nation's largest pro-union groups.
An hour before the 11 p.m. ET curfew in D.C., police fired a major barrage of tear gas stun grenades into the crowd of more than 1,000 people, largely clearing Lafayette Park across the street from the White House and scattering protesters into the street.
Protesters piled up road signs and plastic barriers and lit a raging fire in the middle of H Street. Some pulled an American flag from a nearby building and threw it into the blaze. Others added branches pulled from trees. A cinder block structure, on the north side of the park, that had bathrooms and a maintenance office, was engulfed in flames.
Several miles north, a separate protest broke out in Northwest D.C., near the Maryland border. The Metropolitan Police Department says there were break-ins at a Target and a shopping center that houses Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store, T.J. Maxx, a movie theater and specialty stores. Police say several individuals have been detained.
They even burned down American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) building.

Cities across the country started seeing new looting on Monday night as nationwide demonstrations over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis escalated out of control yet again, and as President Trump vowed a tougher federal response.
In New York City, hundreds of looters were seen breaking their way into Downtown Manhattan businesses. In midtown, a group armed with sticks reportedly lit a fire to one business. Other stores such as Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Barnes and Noble were broken into as glass from broken windows covered the sidewalk, KABC-TV reported.
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, some people were seen actively defying a curfew by staying outside police headquarters.
It is getting worse in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.

An Illinois man who came to Minneapolis to riot over the weekend livestreamed himself handing out explosives, destroying property and appearing to set a Sprint store on fire, according to charges filed in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota on Monday afternoon.
Matthew Lee Rupert, 28, is charged with civil disorder, possession of unregistered explosives and participating in and organizing riots, making him the first to face federal prosecution for allegedly taking part in the fires, looting and other violence that engulfed the Twin Cities since the death of George Floyd in police custody.
Last Thursday night, Rupert, of Galesburg, Ill., posted on his public Facebook page an invitation for "goons" to join him in traveling to Minneapolis, where he said he was renting hotel rooms and planned to wreak havoc and "take hella good videos."
The livestreamed videos, cited as evidence by FBI investigators in the complaint, show his role in the riots on Friday night and early Monday, including distributing explosives and then announcing, "He's throwing my bombs ... they're going to bomb the police with them."

Law enforcement officials have asked Minneapolis residents to be on the lookout for incendiary items, like water bottles filled with gasoline, that have been stashed in bushes or alleys, sometimes even far from where protests have taken place.
A week after George Floyd was killed, and after days of protests, property destruction and arson, even normally inconspicuous household items are sparking fear when residents encounter them.
Matches, gas mask, and gasoline have been found in the Twin Cities area.
I wonder if people saw someone putting those items for rioters to use.

The New York City Police Department tells Fox News that 700 arrests were made overnight. A half dozen police officers were injured, while at least six police vehicles were vandalized.
Cuomo said at a press conference that the mayor "underestimates" the scope and duration of the problem, suggesting he needs to deploy more police.

Agitators behind the rioting that has paralyzed the country over the past week want to move into more suburban areas, a government intelligence source has told Fox News.
Much of the worry stems from the notion that many in well-armed, suburban, and rural neighborhoods won't hesitate to exercise their Second Amendment rights and elevated anxieties could lead to heavy confrontation.
"Antifa knows this," said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "Local and state authorities have to get a grip on this because if it moves to the suburbs, more people will die."
Several analysts pointed to places that have served as something of "testbed" locations – including Madison, Wis., which was ransacked Saturday night, along with quiet pockets of Charleston, S.C.

NORTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A retired St. Louis City police captain was shot and killed outside of a looted North City pawn shop overnight and now a $10,000 reward is offered for any information.
Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police found 77-year-old David Dorn shot dead outside of Lee's Pawn and Jewelry store in the 4100 block of Martin Luther King Dr.
According to the Ethical Society of Police of St. Louis, Dorn was a retired St. Louis City Captain.
David Dorn was killed by looters. They deserve to be executed for his murder. :mad: :argh:

I saw a heartbreaking video of a girl who was telling how the protesters killed her sister. You won't see that on the national news.
Protesters was the word she used. Me, I see real protesters who are there for their cause, then I see the rioters and looters. Those people are nothing but opportunists and it pisses me off to see the DUmmies trying to explain why it's ok for them to loot and burn their city down. Some are trying to blame it on racial injustice, others on being shut down and they have "no money", but I've not seen any DUmmies ask those apologists WHY the same looting happens after hurricanes and other natural disasters.

The US Marshals Service in Colorado has arrested a man sought in the May 28 arson fire that gutted a Minneapolis police precinct amid protests over the death of George Floyd, according to reports.
Dylan Robinson, 22, was picked up in Breckenridge, Colorado, on Sunday and is facing federal arson charges, the Marshals Service said on Twitter.
Robinson was busted in the parking lot of a local recreation center, Fox affiliate KDVR-TV reported.
He is the second suspect charged in the Third Precinct fire that forced police to abandoned the stationhouse, three days after Floyd’s death in police custody in Minneapolis sparked worldwide protests and weeks of clashes between demonstrators and police.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has asked President Trump for a federal disaster declaration in his state due to “extensive fire damage” and other destruction in the unrest that followed George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis police custody on Memorial Day.
“We need to come together to ensure Minnesotans who were victims of this destruction have access to critical infrastructure they need so they can go to the grocery store, pick up their medication, and live their lives,” Walz said in a statement Thursday. “Together, we will rebuild.”
He also appealed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for financial assistance to help cover the cost of debris removal, emergency measures and damage to public buildings and equipment.
The riots should of never happened.

The Minneapolis city government and local businesses are bracing for a new wave of violence as the officer accused of killing George Floyd faces a jury next week.
From now until the end of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin's trial, swaths of the city's downtown will be closed to traffic and strictly limited for pedestrians.
Businesses have begun boarding up windows in hopes of limiting further damage following last summer's riots.
"You might want to consider adding physical barriers, such as boarding or permanent security gates," Minneapolis Economic Policy and Development Director Erik Hansen suggested to local business owners at a recent news conference.
Fear of rioting looms in Minneapolis.
Some of the most dramatic changes to the city's landscape take place at the courthouse and city hall, with fencing and barricades surrounding the two buildings. One local law-enforcement source said the city should expect " Super Bowl-like security" in the city during Chauvin's trial.
"We want to make sure that it's understood in the community that what we are working to do is preserve safety for those involved in the trial to ensure that the trial can proceed without any hindrance or disruption,” Greene told a local KSTP affiliate last week.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey requested earlier this month that the governor mobilize the national guard to maintain peace during the trial, which is expected to cost the state tens of millions of dollars.
Local activists have criticized the decision, alleging that their presence will only exacerbate tensions and potentially cause more violence.

Chauvin is charged with 2nd degree unintentional murder and 2nd degree manslaughter. An additional charge of 3rd degree murder was dropped by the judge last October.
What I completely fail to understand is, given Floyd's autopsy report (completely wigged out on Fentanyl and a host of other drugs and the cause of death identified as cardiac arrest, NOT strangulation or asphyxiation), why is he being charged with anything, other than dereliction of duty, failing to respond to the perp's claim that he couldn't breathe for 8 minutes, and otherwise being a turd?
I'll answer my own question -- this is politics, pure and simple. This isn't justice. It's politics.

Once Chauvin knew Floyd was unconscious he should have gotten-up, rolled Floyd onto his back, and tilted his head back. he could have still maintained positive control of his prisoner.

One PBS report says that Chauvin had his knee on Floyd's neck for 8 minutes 46 seconds. Three plus minutes of that time was spent with knee on the neck after Floyd stopping moving and talking.
There was some back-and-forth between the cops during this time, questioning the procedure they were using to restrain Floyd. Chauvin appeared to be the cop calling the shots.
I was not aware till now that Floyd had been in handcuffs, even before he was dragged out of the car and put on the ground, face down. That was the part I was missing.
I will concede that Chauvin needs to answer for his actions and I absolutely do not contest your point about "the rules." Chauvin needs to answer for his actions, though I will say again Floyd's autopsy report does not indicate that Chauvin killed him, despite the charges. At least, the autopsy report that I read at the time.

According to "the rules," the defendant may not be able to receive a fair trial by a jury of his peers in Minneapolis. Don't be surprised to see a change of venue request, unless that's already been denied. Not gonna look that one up.

Mega-Blue Minneapolis PD still allows constriction techniques. I can see their utility, but Florida banned them back in the 80s after a couple of people died during arrest (also resulting in riots). The problem with constriction techniques is the arrestee may have underlying medical issues that make them susceptible to - you know - dying.
Floyd was just such a person.
Between Floyd's poor, personal choices, outdated policy, and a blasé attitude at the scene, it was the perfect storm to be exploited by the Left.

Tasers seem to have a high failure rate. However, their underlying virtue is: it's a set of variables outside of the officer's control. It's a mechanical device calibrated by someone else, and other factors such as clothing and intoxication are determined by the arrestee.
Kneeling on someone's neck and when to restore unrestricted airway is wholly the discretion (read: liability) of the officers.

The prosecution advised the Court that it would have one rebuttal witness. A rebuttal witness can be called to present testimony in response to evidence heard for the first time during the defense case. As is very common, the rebuttal testimony would come from one expert witness who previously testified, Dr. Martin Tobin, and the testimony would be in response to testimony given by a defense expert.
But the surprising part of the prosecution’s announcement was that it intended to have Dr. Tobin testify about newly discovered evidence — a Hennepin County Medical Examiner report on the level of carbon monoxide (CO) in the blood gas testing of arterial blood drawn from Floyd at the hospital.

A Minnesota National Guard neighborhood security team says it was fired upon in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning, with two guard members sustaining minor injuries.
The shooting occurred shortly before 4:20 a.m. in the Jordan neighborhood near the intersection of Penn Avenue and Broadway in northwest Minneapolis. According to a statement from the guard, a light-colored SUV fired several shots at a Minnesota Operation Safety Net team. Operation Safety Net is a joint effort among the Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the State of Minnesota and local jurisdictions.

Closing arguments were heard today in the trial of Derek Chauvin, who is the former officer accused of killing George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minn. on May 25 of last year.
In that closing, the attorneys for the defense brought up their concerns that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) had threatened the jury publicly when she made a series of comments calling on protesters to "stay on the street" and to "get more confrontational" if Chauvin is found guilty of manslaughter alone.
Defense attorneys said that there would be no way for jurors to have avoided hearing her statements, as the media has been covering this trial in every aspect. The attorney said he didn't know how the jury could be "free from the taint of this."
Maxine Waters's statement could cause the trial to be overturned.
"I think if they want to give their opinions, they should do so in a respectful, and in a manner that is consistent with their commitment to the constitution, to respect the co-equal branch of government. Their failure to do so is abhorrent, but I don't think it has prejudiced us with additional material that would prejudice this jury. They have been told not to watch the news and I trust that they are following these instructions and that there is not in any way a prejudice...
"A congresswoman's opinion really doesn't matter a whole lot," Cahill concluded, and denied the motion for a mistrial.
Waters called on protesters to defy curfew and to "fight for justice." She stated that she would not be satisfied if he received a sentence for manslaughter—only murder would count.
