Auto 5 12ga or the "sweet sixteen"?  I have a sweet sixteen from the early fifties that is the prettiest to look at and a joy to shoot.  One benefit is that ammo is still not difficult to come by and is usually the only thing left on the shelves these days.

I'd go for a twelve, just to keep things simple. No problems with 12ga shells out here, and 16ga is too rare in this part of the country.
