Nice.  Been to Charlotte once, back in 2011 for the 600.  HOT DAY!  It was the race where Jr. ran out of gas coming out of turn 4 on the last lap.  Was listening on the scanner, when they were getting ready to start the G/W/C, Jamie McMurray's crew chief came on the radio, "You might want to lay back a bit, those guys up front can't have much gas left."  McMurray replied, "Yeah, I think I'll just sit back here and watch it on the Jumbotron."

Kasey Kayne's car stumbled at the drop of the green flag, and Dale Jr's car popped and died in turn 4 on the last lap.  They said if he had a pop bottle more gas, he would have won it.  We were sitting right at the entrance to pit road, looking right into Jimmie Johnson's pits.

Charlotte was the first "big" track me and the misses had been to, she had been to Martinsville, and we are Bristol season ticket holders.  Her first comment when she first saw it was "This place is HUGE!"  Been to Daytona since then (2013 500), and we're planning a trip to Talladega for this fall.  She's a BIG Jeff Gordon fan, and since this is his last year, she wants to go to a bunch of races.

Between NASCAR, NHRA (Love Thunder Valley!!!) and IRL (been to Road America and Mid-Ohio, back in the CART days), I LOVE internal combustion!!!  Used to race motocross and hare scrambles, my brother and I did some tractor pulling with a hopped up IH 1066, and once I FELT 20,000 HP leave the starting line at Thunder Valley, I realized I have the Nitro Gene as well!  Having a step-son that works for Matt Hagan's dad is a plus as well!  LOL!  DSR hospitality passes, meet and greets with the drivers (Jack Beckman's dad is a HOOT!  Wife got HIS autograph, AND got her picture taken with "The Don"!)

Cool! Thanks!

Charlotte is the only track around here I haven't been to.

Daytona
Talledega (hated it)
Rockingham (my favorite)
Darlington
Atlanta

I was a huge Mark Martin fan; and I haven't settled on a single driver since he retired. I root for Ford drivers, especially Roush Fords.

The most memorable race I attended was Rockingham right after Dale died. It was the first race since his death, and Steve Parks won.

NASCAR should mandate diesel engines.

Amen.  I laughed when I saw his engine blow yesterday.

Amen.  I laughed when I saw his engine blow yesterday.
Jarvik bumped him from behind and then the engine sucker-punched him.
There were a few at the VFW, that gave a collective "Yeehaw", when that happened.

Whenever the cameras gave a wide shot of most of the field, I'd look for  Danica Patrick. Every time they showed her, she had a car length space open in front of her and one open behind her. While just about everyone else was running nose to tail, she was riding more or less by herself. I guess no one wanted to hear how "they wrecked her".

It was fun last year when Keselowski's face hit Kenseth's fist a couple times.   :yahoo:
Brad had taken the asshole crown from Kyle, and deserved it.

NASCAR should mandate diesel engines.

This is not NASCAR, but it does involve motorsports.  F1 to be exact.

Years ago when Jensen Button drove for Williams/BMW, I think he was 18 or 19 years old at the time, he was issued a "restricted" drivers license by the French Government to use during the French Grand Prix, because he was too young for a regular license.  The license restricted him to diesel vehicles only, so BMW, who was the Williams engine supplier, gave Button a diesel BMW to drive while in France.

He got a speeding ticket in it, for doing 110 MPH (yes, MPH) over the speed limit, in a DIESEL BMW car.  Think it was $700-800 at the time.

BMW paid his ticket, they said it was the cheapest advertising they've ever bought!

History of the 1952 pole sitting CUMMINS diesel. You can google up some more of Cummings diesel Indy car history from the 1930s if you like.
