"The Hoax" (fake story that was actually true)
« on: July 04, 2008, 12:04:13 PM »
this has Richard Geer in it... and he plays against type; very 70s-ish curly sideburns, and wavy nerdy hair. his book pitch goes south after he buys a mercedes on credit and has his house in bankruptcy... but he comes up with scheme to say he is having talks with the infamously shy man, and Hughes is giving him his life's story. sorting of a clearing of the air as to why he was as he was... not to die and leave it all a big mystery.

but it was all fake, as you know right at the beginning... its just how Geer keeps this guy going, when it all seems to be crumbling around him, he pulls another trick out of his hat.

i'd not say its brilliant or anything of the sort... but entertaining? yeah.. oh, and Geer believes Hughes whole purpose in giving him info (which was actually happening... just not in person) was that Hughes wanted to impeach Nixon. so, its got some politicial stuff in it...

interesting twists and turns... dont know how much of it is believable though.
