I belong to several fraternal organizations, one of them being the Association of Military Musicians.
For years, there was a limp-dick one-page web site. Then a guy came along 3-4 years ago and expanded it to something like 4 pages. Still pretty limp-dick, but better.
The Secretary and I (I'm the Treasurer) wanted to incorporate some kind of way for people to pay their dues online. And we both knew that Paypal offers that kind of thing. The previous webmaster couldn't be bothered to actually do the work in getting that going and actually lied about how complicated it was supposed to be.
F'n GS15 asshole, just like the rest of the f'n shitheel bureaucrats that infest the gubmint, but I digress.
)
So in last month's business meeting at our annual reunion, I made sure to get on the agenda to fire the asshole and put me in there as webmaster. I'll git 'er done.
And so, with a bit of help from my stepson (he designed the home page graphic), I present the first web site that I put together myself in Wordpress. (Okay, call it 80%.)
It ain't quite done yet, but I'd call it close. We may or may not put an "AMM Store" page on there with a shopping cart capability (to sell T-shirts, baseball caps, polo shirt, etc.). That kinda depends on yet another shitbird (he used to be the Treasurer until I unassed him a year ago because he was so incompetent
) and whether he can get off his ass and get me the information I need, and there are a few bells and whistles I'd like to put in as well.
But for somebody who doesn't know squat about html (and still don't) and knows even less about web design and programming, I think this is a pretty good first effort:
