Left-wing extremism is linked to toxic, psychopathic tendencies and narcissism, according to a new study published to the peer-reviewed journal Current Psychology.

“Based on existing research, we expected individuals with higher levels of left-wing authoritarianism to also report higher levels of narcissism,” the authors wrote.

As result of the new data, study authors Ann Krispenz and Alex Bertrams have coined a new term for such psychological behavior: the “dark-ego-vehicle principle.”

“According to this principle, individuals with dark personalities — such as high narcissistic and psychopathic traits — are attracted to certain forms of political and social activism which they can use as a vehicle to satisfy their own ego-focused needs instead of actually aiming at social justice and equality,” they told PsyPost.

What immediately came to mind to me was the time that DU experimented with a forum where they could vent with limited restrictions. I believe they call the forum "Meta".

It didn't take long before the primitives were turning on each other, forming cliques, and just generally unloading on the other primitives they hated but had never been able to tell them on the board for fear of being removed, while at the same time, as individual posters, propping themselves up as having all the answers to the Dem party or to leftist ideology or whatever the topic might be. Every primitive thought they alone were the golden gift to Democrats. It was psychopathic tendencies and narcissism on full display.

Of course the forum had to come down for the board to not fall into anarchy. But it was fun while it lasted!

DU-grade Progs cannot bring themselves to acknowledge that an honest intelligent person could disagree with their ideas. I don't have a Psych degree, but I suspect that inability pretty much covers psychopathy and narcissism.

Definitely a hefty dollup of narcissism there, but I think they lean more in the direction of sociopathy - where the opinions of those who don't march in lockstep with them don't exist beyond a theoretical context in their warped li'l brains - than psychopathy.
