Huckabee: Amend Constitution to be in 'God's standards'
« on: January 16, 2008, 01:12:22 AM »
Quote
The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Bye-bye Huckabee. Your campaign has just imploded

Yeah...  theres this slight problem with the 1st amendment that specifically forbids that.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Imagine the outcry from Christians if Romney was saying he wanted to align the Constitution with Mormonism.  :whatever:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Okay Huckster.  Just checking.

Yep. Mike Huckabee is a big-government-worshipping statist.
