Strong military and limited government. However, the GOP has all but forgotten that.  :(

To me the essence of it is not embracing change just for its own sake, but rather only when it offers tangible benefits for the general good...change in traditional understandings, institutions, traditions, and Governmental forms/roles/responsibilities, that is.
