DU: Dummie Says Shopping at Wal-Mart is Un-American
« on: November 28, 2008, 01:22:16 PM »
Look for the last paragraph where the dummie's relationship with friends is now strained because they dare shop at Wal-Mart!  Oh, the humanity!

Shopping at Walmart is UNPATRIOTIC and UN-AMERICAN

I don't understand why people don't directly perceive this simple fact. Shopping Walmart is unpatriotic and un-American. Among other reasons, shopping at Walmart:

1. Encourages the destruction of local economies (local stores)
2. Encourages the destruction of nation-wide economies (made in America)
3. Unfairly increases the tax burden of people that have to pay for Walmart Employee health care benefits via public assistance.
4. Strengthens our #1 or #2 (potential) enemy in the world -- China.
5. Causes the destruction of the environment in China, and therefore the world
6. Encourages the massive misery of child labor in China and in other countries.

I view Walmart as a foreign invader. As far as I'm concerned, every Walmart store should be required by law to fly a Republic of China flag with a banner under it saying F* America.

Last night we were visiting friends on Thanksgiving, and they said they had to go to bed so they could get to Walmart by 4:30 AM on "Black Friday". I bluntly and directly said "shopping at Walmart is completely Un-American". At first they thought I was joking, but when I made it clear that I was not, they became somewhat offended and gave 50 excuses why it was okay. We then left with less than pleasant feelings between our two families.

Don't shop at Walmart. Just don't do it.

Well, I'll have to respond after I get back from town...seriously, I'm off to Walmart.

WOW!  I never knew that Wal-Mart was that powerful!

I guess we could say that Wal-Mart is a major cause of global warming?

Quote
Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's largest retailer, has a negligible economic influence on small counties where it is located and doesn't destroy local businesses, according to research by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.

The bank study of 40 counties in its district between 1986 and 2003 found the Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer slightly boosted business growth, employment and earnings compared with counties without a Wal-Mart, senior economist Terry Fitzgerald said in a paper released today.

The findings challenge the conventional view that Wal-Mart has a significant economic influence on local communities, Fitzgerald said. Almost 90 percent of the U.S. population lives within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart store, and about five in six Americans shopped there in 2005, he said.

``The biggest surprise is that Wal-Mart's economic influence is pretty small, given how rancorous the debate is,'' Fitzgerald said in a phone interview. ``The success of local communities depends on other factors other than the presence or non-presence of Wal-Mart.''

This is just another example that proves the dummies hate anything that represents success and any form of capitalism.  I shop at Wal-Mart all the time, whether things are good or bad.  Their prices are cheaper and my money goes further for most things, hands down.

1. Encourages the destruction of local economies (local stores)

You mean it might actually create local jobs so people can actually work in lieu of sitting on DU and bitching about being poor ?  Or provide a desired product at an affordable price, meaning people are more likely to, you know, spend money thereby inputting it into the economy.

Funny how they only notice that the USA has enemies when it suits their causes. Not so funny that they also have no problem with strengthening said enemies when it suits their cause as well.

My daughter also works at Walmart and she does have decent medical benefits.  The employee cost is a bit higher than some companies, but ain't all that bad IMO.  I think she pays about $200 a month; that includes medical, dental and disabilty coverage.

I pay almost $250/mo for my insurance/disability, and I'm in a union.

So maybe Walmart ain't so bad on employee cost for coverage then.

I suspect the level of coverage, co-pays, annual out of pocket and what-not vary.

But still.

I guess that proves that for dummies if the big bad capitalistic company doesn't provide free healthcare coverage, then it's too expensive.  They keep forgetting that nothing is free - someone has to pay for it.

What else should we expect from the dummies?

As does almost every other employer, and that's what makes the DUmp monkeys mad.  They think employees should get 100% covered health care from employers from day one so they don't have to stick with any one job for very long.

Not much left there worth picking out.  I went there the weekend after the election and they were OUT of 9mm and .357, had only ball .45, and the only shotgun stuff they had was .410 or 12-gauge birdshot.  No double-ought buck AT ALL.
