Unless of course we went into DUI as a social problem... and why drinking and driving kills far more people than oh... illegal drugs.So what is missing here? There is really no talk of the Transpacific Treaty, or it's ugly cousin the TTiP. There is no talk truly... of why cops stop African Americans at levels that are well beyond their percentage in the population.There is no talk of the fact that we have climate change and the Senate Leader, Mitch McConnell, sent a letter to governors telling them it was not real. I guess the current drought and these temps are very much normal, if we asked McConnell, just an act of God,Yeah, the news is compelling, and of all these stories, the only one in my mind that merits leading the news is... Indiana. Why? It will affect millions of people and there is real pushback. The rest, why the hell do I care of Walker was an Eagle Scout? And this is the problem with news. We get all the inside baseball of politics, and truly the horse race aspect of it, but not actual policies they believe in, if we do it is in passing. So this becomes a personality context not policy context... as you read this ask yourself this. What does Jeb Bush stand for? Hillary Rotahm Clinton? We all know exactly what they tell us, but really, what do they stand for? And why are PACs more important these days than other things?Locally, we have the same problem. Yes, if it bleeds it leads is candy.For the record, did anybody mention that Lake Murray is part of the water supply for the city of San Diego? Don't worry, getting that water to clean standards it's not that hard, but... it's a smidgen of a detail that somebody should mention.This is why we at ReportingSanDiego, for the most part, try to cover the hard stuff. Nadin BrzezinskiOver the last two days I have had two very interesting conversations. These were about our unusually hot weather. One went like this, "we pay to live here." I pointed out that this was too hot and unusual. Person nodded and avoided the rest of it.The second, person said that yes the media (I happen to be part of the media) has said that indeed this has been the 8th day above 80. Here is the problem. I will gladly go there and call this extreme weather and climate change. But the tv meteorologists are still surprised we are having this unusually hot weather, never mind the IPPC predicted this. We are just living though the predicted science.This is ‪#‎climatechange‬ and ‪#‎extremeweather‬ and it is time we stop pretending otherwise.here, our story this week on this...as I listen to the scanner waiting for the inevitable major wild fire.
