what would you do if you woke up poor tomorrow?
« on: November 21, 2008, 06:48:13 AM »
The most interesting thing about this thread is that you will notice only one of them says they would immediately go out and start working or trying to find a job so as to not be poor! That person also gets attacked by the bobblehead primitive! Big surprise!

what would you do if you woke up poor tomorrow?

For many people who are on the bottom of Americas' economic ladder poverty was inherited from their parents. Terrible as that is they learned ways of surviving with little or no money. With the economic future looking bleak, millions may find themselves facing poverty without the survival skills needed to live on less. If you lost everything tomorrow and had no one to turn to, would you be able to survive with progressive ideals intact? If you had to work two physically demanding, low paying jobs to keep food on the table would you care as much about politics? For those of you already there you know what I mean. Most nights righteous outrage takes A backseat to an aching back.

Starts off as an interesting topic until this exchange...

7. Exactaly what I did before

I would get a job. I have been jobless and flat broke before and survived. I'd prefer not to do it again, but I know damn well I could. I would even take one of those jobs "Americans won't do" if I had to. And I had to in the past.

Why is S.Palin still around? I thought dope was illegal

Then the "happiest" poor person on DU chimes in!

15. How...... progressive...

So, you're 85, health problems that make it impossible to function all day...

Where is this magic job????

Can you tell me how you sound different from a fundie???

One wonders why the bobbling head primitive has no family to take care of her in her advanced years? Could it be that she is just a complete PITA to deal with? I also have a feeling that if you did try and care for or help her she would be very ungrateful! :uhsure:

".....keep food on the table."....What table? You said," If you lost everything tomorrow...."

DUmmie solution, "Call Obama."
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Ok, now she's 85?  :whatever: I think bobblehead has said she has been homeless for the most part for the better part of 30 years? So that means she could have got and retained a job in her 50's and built up 25 years of a retirement in that time and not been in the position she is in.

About family, bobblehead seems to turn her nose up at provisions she believes to be inadequate. I would guess her family have thrown their arms up in defeat long ago.

See, here's the fundamental difference between DUmmies and me.

There's a difference between "poor" and "broke."

I may very well be "broke" again. I refuse to be "poor." Poor implies victimhood and helplessness and a perpetual cycle. My grandparents were "poor" when they came over from Italy. They quickly showed that through hard work, one can make a better life. If I lose my (fairly well-paying) job today, tomorrow I'll slice provolone or make hoagies or hang drywall or clean toilets to make sure my family has food and shelter. If my family's safety and comfort requires me to travel to another state, so be it.

God alone suffices.

That would require ambition,motivation...you know, things that are like a cross to a vampire for a DUmmy.

No, one could not survive on their own with "progressive ideals intact."  Survival means having to think outside the box, and that's not a world in which they are familiar since their isn't a father-figure gov't to hold their hand.

 I would get a job.
You can almost hear the sirens going off on the Mods' computers from all the alert buttons. I think Bluzman57 has committed the unthinkable by suggesting gainful employment to the DUmmies.
Never demand that which you are incapable of taking by force, DUmmie.

bobbolink is psycho.  It is homeless because it is psycho.  Here are 2 different conversations I can imagine from bobbolink;

bobbolink goes to the store and buys something;

#1

clerk; Would you like that in a bag?

bblink;  What you think just because I'm homeless I need your friggin charity?!  You think just because I'm homeless somehow I need a damn bag?!  You have no compassion for my plight!

#2

clerk;  Thank you, please come again.

bblink;  How come you didn't offer me a bag for my item?!  You think just because I'm homeless I don't need a bag?!  I somehow don't deserve a bag because I live in my car?!  You have no compassion for my plight!

You can't win with psycho.

Well thank you for the laugh!  I do have a question though - does she go to the library for her DU fix?

That's what it claimed last time I saw it answer the question.  Now it seems to blow that question off with a snarky answer of some type and how everyone is down on it because it can't afford to take a bath.

It is psycho and that is why it is homeless.

PS You're welcome for the laugh!

Also, it spends an enormous amount of time posting yet it can't get a job doing data entry for some reason.  Of course, this goes for most of the DUmmies because most of them are on the government tit in some form or fashion.  They cry because they can't work yet they have the intestinal fortitude to sit for HOURS posting ludicrous bull shit about their country.

I cried because I saw a man with no job ................... until I found the DUmp.

I thought they did "wake up poor" after a night of binging on quarter lbs. of weed and then emptying the snack food shelves at 7-11 on the "1st of the month"?

Same thing I did last time I "woke up poor".  Get off my ass, and get back to work.

There have been times in my life that I've lived out of my car or in a homeless shelter because poor financial choices on my part carried consequences I hadn't thought about when I made them.  Those times in my life are not excluded from the statement that I've never been out of work longer than 3 weeks.  Life gets "interesting" in those times, you learn quickly how creative you can get in improvising, adapting and overcoming, but the alternative isn't worth considering.

Unless you're a DUmpMonkey, I guess.

It makes me wonder what the DUmp denizens feel about people like Walt Disney who filed for bankruptcy multiple times.  Or how about ..... I dunno ..... a Chicago crack dealer who ends up becoming President of the United States.  That could NEVER happen .... right?!

If my family's safety and comfort requires me to travel to another state, so be it.

During the Carter years, I worked in a mobile home factory for $3.15/hr. When even that went to hell because no one could afford to buy the damn things, I worked as a janitor. Even after things started picking up, I worked construction that kept me away from my family close to 8 months a year.

Now thanks to mine and "Toots'" hard work, we can pretty much do what we want. I still work 3 jobs, but none of them require the blood, sweat, and tears like it used to and I do it now because I like the cash and bennies.

These useless dregs wouldn't know poverty if it shit on them!
