I loves ya dearly, but you wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes in the Army OR Navy. Food is, well...just a turd passing through.
Whoa Nellie! I seem to remember that the cooks at both of the armored cavalry squadrons I was in (as a SIGO) had some
good food. 'Course, the only time I really ate it was in the field. But, my commo sergeant put it this way: "Sir, if we make sure their phones are alright back in garrison, and at Graf (or Dona Ana), they will take care of us in the field." Our mess hall, when I was in 2d ACR, was chosen regularly by the RCO to eat in--above the RHHT's mess hall. Matter of fact, the VII Corps commander told the RCO at Thanksgiving at Graf, "We're not going to the Regimental mess hall--1st Squadron's will do just fine." The SCO was all smiles, and the mess hall sergeants got impact ARCOMs. The mess hall enlisted got impact AAMs.
Everyone was happy--except, maybe, the RHHT commander.
