I don't love this country,
never have. I don't feel some emotional connections that some call patriotism.
I don't hate it either. It's an okay country, better than some, worse than others. I live here by accident of birth and family history. My life works for me living here. And most of the people I love live here. If I had to move to another country, I wouldn't be bereft.
That said, I believe it is my duty as a citizen of America to do what I can to improve the lives of all who live here. Not out of some patriotic fervor, but because morally and ethically it is the right thing to do.

2. My thoughts as well.

I don't strongly identify myself with any group, to be honest.

12. There's lots to love about this country.

We were founded on the idea of representative democracy at a time when that was somewhat rare in the world. We didn't live up to our high ideals at first (actually, we still don't), but we've mostly moved in the right direction since our founding.

We aren't aristocratic. We aren't homogeneous. Our country was founded to be more of an idea than a place. Our ancestors come from all over the world, and we all blend together into something new and evolving.

We value individual rights and our Constitution includes specific protections for things like free speech and freedom of (and from) religion.

59 Replies, I just brought over a couple. Not that it's a surprise that many DUpipo have zero love for the US.

Is this like the self-styled "anti-fascists" being "just an idea"?

North Korea sounds like paradise.  Same with the Uyghur region of China.  I'll start a go fund me account for any willing DUmmy to any of the aforementioned destinations.

OK Dummie... I remember the USSR had to build a wall to keep their people in and the USA *should* build a wall to keep people out.

So Dummie... why are you still here?  You don't feel some emotional connection to the greatest country on the Earth? Well fine assface!
I'll buy you a ticket to venezuela or Cuba.

I have dual US and Mexico citizenship. I love Mexico, I just like the US . I love the people of Mexico, I like very few people in the US. I love the authentic gratitude the locals in my town in Sonora, Mex show when I take part in monthly home building. I dislike the entitlement and whatever attitude when I partake in home remodeling for those in need in California. Hell, even the NARCOS get their hands dirty and build parks, playgrounds, and houses in poverty stricken areas of my town…more helpful than my corrupt local government in California. I like the can do attitude of our local Mexican government, not the empty promises of my local California politicians. I can only speak of Sonora, Mexico, other parts south have more unique problems. If I had to choose it would be Mexico in a heartbeat 🇲🇽.

So you have no barriers to relocating and yet you're here?  And did you just bash people on welfare?  And are you praising drug cartels?  Why don't you pack-up your crap and head on down to Sonora?  And, on the way, stop in San Diego and pick up Nadin.  She also misses her Mexican compatriots.

If ignorance were bliss ......

Evidently MenloParque has never heard of Habitat for Humanity. They have offices in SF and Oakland, and obviously do projects in the Bay Area. They might even have a project in Menlo Park.

Evidently MenloParque has never heard of Beautiful Day, which does a wide variety of projects every year in Silicon Valley, projects ranging from dinners/dances for people with disabilities to park and trail clean-up to substantial house repair to school campus landscaping and spruce-up to ... . I know they've done projects as far north on the peninsula as Palo Alto. They also receive help on some projects from local government (and school districts, of course).

Evidently MenloParque has never heard of orgs such as City Team, whose ministries range from operating a homeless shelter to operating a shelter for battered women to education and clothing for recoverees looking to enter the job market to operating a home for pregnant women who have no place to go. City Team has facilities in San Jose, SF, and Oakland. There are many such organizations in the SF Bay Area, religious and non-religious, as large as the Salvation Army or City Team and as small as a local church with a food pantry or clothing closet. :thatsright:

There is no lack of humanitarian service orgs in the SF Bay Area. MenloParque lacks the give-a-shit to learn about the orgs and projects/services in his neighborhood, city, and county. :thatsright:

MenloParque also does not see the contradiction between his willingness to help with a volunteer org's efforts in Sonora and his expectation that government should do that same kind of work in Menlo Park and San Mateo County. :thatsright:

Too easy. I want them to try to move to a liberal paradise to see what happens:

Canada - they don't want you. Already filled with liberals, and you don't have any marketable skills. Deported.
New Zealand - they definitely don't want you, unless you're a celebrity liberal, or you have no high-end tech skills. Poetry and weed-growing aren't high tech skills. Deported.
Sweden - they won't take you. You aren't from the Middle East. In any case, the celebrated Swedish safety net doesn't pay off for people who didn't pay in. Deported.
Norway - see Sweden.
Iceland - Deported.
Ireland - see Norway, only slightly friendlier, and far more racist.
Switzerland - more of a Day of the Jackal place than a Day of the Jerkoff place. Couldn't get in to be deported. Maybe learn to make a watch?

That takes care of the time-honored liberal destinations of choice. As usual, note that those places are as lily-white as it gets.

So you liberals are back to the Socialist meccas of Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea. They'd be sure to take you and put you to work. But it wouldn't be writing a blog, I assure you.

I am not a fan of Donald Trump, but I trust his advisors to steer this country in a more prosperous direction than the Dem monkeys pulling Biden's strings. Is that clear enough?

10. Right on!

Our kids and Grand kids are the ones I'M fighting for!!!

I'm sure that they'll be grateful to you for your efforts.  They might be saddled with 20+trillion in debt, but at least they will be able to take comfort in the fact that they'll be able to use whatever bathroom they want.
"Think of the people — if your kid wanted to find out whether or not there were — there’s a man on the moon, or whatever — you know, something, or, you know, whether those aliens are here or not — you know, who are the people they talk to beyond the kids who love talking about it?  They go to people they respect, and they say, “What do you think?"
