Need a Moderna booster? You can now get one!

My Walgreens opened up its booster appointments this morning. If you're over 65 and it's been 6 months since you got vaccinated, get it now!

The first two did not do the job so now you are excited about a third???  :whatever:

Both Pfizer's and Moderna's vaccines are authorized for booster usage for very specific populations: those over 65; those with weak immune systems; people who, professionally, are around a lot of different people and are thus more likely than most to be exposed (e.g. doctors and nurses).

OTOH, J&J's vaccine is authorized for use as a "booster" or "second shot" for all who received it. The effectiveness of J&J's vaccine, while lower than that of M's and P's, met FDA standards for effectiveness. But testing was begun ~3 1/2 month before the vaccine received EUA to see if a second dose might significantly improve the effectiveness, https://www.janssen.com/johnson-johnson-initiates-second-global-phase-3-clinical-trial-its-janssen-covid-19-vaccine , https://www.jnj.com/johnson-johnson-initiates-second-global-phase-3-clinical-trial-of-its-janssen-covid-19-vaccine-candidate .

I've seen enough contradictory info about duration of effectiveness and effectiveness vs. demographic groups that I'm a booster-necessity skeptic. I'm not a true-believer on the "Yes" or "No" side. I'm over 65 and my overall health is a mixed bag of problems and good things. My plan is that as my 6-month-post-2nd-injection date approaches, I'll have an antibody test done. The lab is 5-10 minutes drive from my home and the cost is $69 (probably covered by my insurance). The test doesn't, AFAIK, differentiate between antibodies due to recovery (which I am) and antibodies due to a vaccine, but the cause of any antibodies present doesn't much matter AFAIK. The bottom line is that, if I have antibodies in good concentration (the test gives a general idea of the concentration), "No booster for me!" If few or no antibodies, then I'll consider a booster or a different vaccine (I doubt this will be the outcome, so it's not much of a concern to me).

I foresee a time in the near future where it won't be good enough for the Vax nazis that a person has been vaccinated. They will push and yammer and demand to know the booster status of everyone and demand sanctions those who have not received any booster shots, meanwhile forcing the vaccinated and boosted population to continue to wear masks just because they think they can

It is pretty apparent that the very gendered term "mandates" will keep expanding to keep COVID alive to further their power grab.  Whatever liberals don't want to ban, they demand to make things mandatory.

IMO, Biden & Krew should have been smarter than to try the vax mandate route. I thought they were, and was wrong. It's going to be an ugly couple of months, but I think the push-back from employees, military personnel, and in courts is going to bury vax mandates like a zombie stumbling into a wood chipper.
