Does anyone ever see licorice ice cream for sale anymore?

It was a reasonably common flavor back in the 1970s when I was growing up -- most of the local, mom and pop ice cream shops carried it. Baskin Robbins even sold it, at least around Halloween.

I used to delight in the way it turned the tongue and lips ghastly black.

I haven't seen it in years and years. I've made my own a few times, since its just vanilla with a little anise oil added - I skipped the black food color, since its just for show.

I would be tickled to death to find it for sale somewhere one time, just for old times sake.

2. The one I miss is Mandarin Chocolate from Baskin Robbins

I first had it when I was about 13 years old and have been looking for it to no avail for over 40 years.

3. I make a White Licorice sorbet with anise oil - which I love

I don't think I've ever seen a commercial licorice ice cream. I'd love it. Licorice is one of my favorite flavors.

5. Oh gosh . . . I remember licorice ice cream

Used to get it all the time, and I think it was a Baskin Robbins, and yes, that was many years ago too.

I too have been looking for it for years, but nothing available in my area.

I love licorice, but there is no way would I eat licorice ice cream.  The DUmmies never have a problem sticking anything into their mouths, though.

I had some in New Zealand from a small shop that made their own. It was pretty good only it was green and has small bits of real licorice in it. But their apple pie ice cream was my fav. Yes it has real apple pie in it.

Apple pie ice cream sounds awesome.

But if licorice ice cream were the only food left on earth, I'm pretty sure I would accept my fate and go into the hereafter.

I recently had Peach Cobbler ice cream.  It was absolutely delicious.  Apple Pie sounds like it would be really good.  I can only eat licorice in very small amounts, so I doubt I would enjoy licorice ice cream.  I would rather have vanilla ice cream with a couple of licorice all sorts on top.

Oh, haven't thought of this for years! I loved licorice ice cream! Someone told me there was a liqueur that tasted like licorice. Had a deer on it or something. Never thought anything could be worse than Nyquil. Something does.

Yeah, Jaeger isn't for the faint of heart. But I always thought Ouzo tasted more like licorice. I still want to have the "real" Greek ouzo, the stuff rumored to have opiates or some such thing in it. After ebu sake, one would think most everything else is a letdown.

Oh, and as disgusting as licorice ice cream sounds, it isn't as bad as the garlic ice cream I had at my one and only trip to The Stinking Rose in LA many years ago. God-awful nasty stuff.

Licorice ice cream.....That is so racist.

Hey, I'm surprised one of the DUmmies hasn't said it already.

The DUmmies probably buy the same kind of licorice I get at Walmart (but pay twice as much elsewhere), which is Capricorn Australian Black Licorice.  The multicultural "Australian" part cancels out the evil racist "black" part.  It's like fair trade racism licorice to them.

I was on a ship homeported in Gaeta, Italy and we used to drink Sambuca all the time. Nasty stuff, to my taste, but I hate anything anise-flavored.

Anisette is an anise flavored liqueur. I had it at a little place in Vienna, Austria that made all kinds of liqueurs. Nasty tasting stuff, but I don't like black licorice or anise flavoring. However, they made a peach brandy that was delightful.  :-)

I resent that remark.
