Hamas fires rockets into Israel amid Jerusalem unrest

Hamas launched rockets on Jerusalem Monday evening while thousands of Israelis celebrated Jerusalem Day, according to reports.

The group, which has been the de facto administrator of the Gaza Strip since 2007, made threats earlier in the day to punish Israel for violent confrontations with Palestinians.

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) sent reinforcements, closed roads and postponed a planned drill as tensions mounted. Bomb shelters opened in Ashkelon and Kiryat Melachi, which border the Gaza region.

Wait, so Israelis celebrating a holiday is considered unrest? When I think of unrest, I think of riots, something that's out of the ordinary. You know, like the Burn Loot & Murder goons here. Oh wait, that's not unrest. It's a "peaceful protest".

After Long Night of Israeli Attacks, Palestinian Silent for 8 Hours
https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2021/05/19/after-long-night-of-israeli-attacks-palestinian-rockets-fall-silent-for-now/

Quote
Palestinian terrorist rocket fire has fallen silent for eight hours, according to Israel’s Army Radio, after a long night in which the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) pounded Hamas and Islamic Jihad positions in Gaza.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden continued to urge Israel towards a ceasefire, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would continue “Operation Guardians of the Walls” as long as necessary to silence Palestinian rocket fire at Israel.

Overnight, the IDF attacked Hamas air defenses and underground tunnels. Earlier in the evening, a Palestinian rocket misfired — as roughly 20% of the rockets do.

So much for a ceasefire.

It sounded like Biden was trying to take credit for the cease fire.

I'm not reading it that way -- though Slow Joe, by beating the cease fire drum, might be having an impact on the Dem party as a whole. Interesting how the article flat-out states that the proglodyte "wing" of the Dem party outwardly is hostile to Israel. It happens to be the truth.

I had heard a clip of Biden saying that "quiet diplomacy" was working and was the key to continued peace. He never mentioned Egypt.

Gaza unrest: Fire balloons, airstrikes mark a new round of violence in Israel
https://www.foxnews.com/world/gaza-fire-balloons-airstrikes-israel

Quote
Israel’s Defense Forces launched a counterattack into Gaza after a balloon attack sent incendiary devices floating into southern Israel.

The counterstrike, which happened Tuesday evening in the U.S. and early Wednesday morning local time, targeted Hamas military compounds, according to the IDF.

The targets were used by Hamas' Khan Yunis and Gaza Brigades for "terror activities," according to the IDF.

The ceasefire is over after Hamas used balloons to drop incendiary devices on Israel.
