1. I don't pretend to have super-deep insight into human behavior, but I do not think screaming, denigrating, and swearing at people is very persuasive.
2. On the other hand, if McSweeney, whoever (s)he is, got rid of the myriad ****INGs (s)he would have plenty of room in that scream-rant for actual factual information about, for example, the magnet-CT and the microchip CT. It's not like holding a refrigerator magnet up to your arm is hard (BTDTGTTS) or hard to point out that an IC die is much too large to pass through the hypodermic needles used for vaccinations (GTTS too).
3. That the myriad ****INGs in that scream-rant would appeal to and seem profound to Stinker and many DU-folk is unsurprising.

I looked up who she is and it turns out she's some Hollywood producer of animated sit-coms. She is probably pretty rich and fancies herself to be pretty important too as long she stays in the world of animated sit-com production.

Well, this person might be pretty important, I don’t know, but does that make them a scientist? I’ve seen the DUmmies disparage Rand Paul’s medical degree. Maybe he should do some low budget animation to get some liberal cred.
So here’s where we are in my real life world;
I know several people who’ve had COVID. Been face to face with about a half dozen and I’ve not contracted the disease. A couple since delta became the norm.
Out of the most recent I know 3 who have not only had COVID, but they got vaccinated after they cleared the disease. Out of those 3, 2 of them are sick with COVID. Right now there are 2 more who are positive who have NOT been vaccinated.
So I know 4 people who are positive right now and 2 of those have cleared the disease and have been vaccinated and 2 who are positive and have not been vaccinated.
Out of those 4, the 2 who have been vaccinated are sicker than the 2 who are not vaccinated.
The 2 who’ve been vaccinated and are really sick are older than the 2 unvaccinated who are not as sick. The 2 younger who are doing better have more complications than the 2 older, sicker, vaccinated. The older are early 50’s, the younger are early 30’s. The younger are overweight by a lot and have asthma. The older are average weight with no underlying conditions.
These are all real life facts. Why should I be afraid? What is the advantage to the vaccine? The vaccinated and unvaccinated all work in areas where masking is an absolute requirement due to employment. 2 work in government jobs, one in customer service at peoples homes, one is a safety administrator for his company.
I have not, and do not work in an industry that requires masking unless we’re working with a tank that has/had chemicals in it that requires a mask.
I’m in Texas, a reported hot spot. I’m still not seeing what the MSM is reporting.
Just anecdotal I know, but it’s my reality on the ground. Still not worried and still not going to play the game. If I get it I’ll let you know, if you don’t hear from me anymore then I didn’t make it. No one knows how this will effect them.

Like Delmar, I looked this nutball up, too. She’s got major mental issues and definitely has problems with those who criticize her excessive weight. She’s your typical uneducated and vile acting know-it-all. Anyone who disagrees with her automatically becomes the worst person alive.

Another very close to me just tested positive in the last 30 minutes. We’ll see where this goes. The new test is off an unvaccinated person, late 20’s and healthy.

3 coworkers are out after testing positive. A fourth is awaiting results. Out of the 40 people or so in our shop, about 10 have either had it or have it. None of the people have been very sick with it.

I agree with the last paragraph. If someone wants to take their chances on dying, then be my guest. Unfortunately that decision also affects health care workers... and not in a good way.

"I've seen kids as young as 8 in my ward, I've seen 80 yr olds and I've seen all ages in between. I've seen them die and I have seen them recover. Now we are getting swamped again, mostly unvaccinated and I just don't give a damn anymore."
I don't know what the answer is other than to get vaccinated. Hopefully this will be the last surge once it goes thru all the unvaccinated and we get to a point that the majority of the population can fight it off without serious health effects.

My aunt was taken to the emergency room yesterday and tested positive for C-19. Her symptoms weren't too bad, they gave her a prescription to help her sleep and sent her home.
She turned 104 last April.

:cheersmate: I dunno, I've just been vaccinated once, in a two-dose regimen, just like with the Shingrix vaccine. Vaccines with boosters are not unprecedented, e.g. the TDaP, but at this point I've seen no evidence a booster is needed for the Covid vaccines, possibly excepting seniors whose immune systems didn't respond strongly enough to the normal regimen.

These covid treatments, I won't call them vaccines, have forced the CDC to change the definition of what a vaccine is.
OLD DEFINITION:
Vaccine– “a product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease.”
Vaccination– “the act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease.”
NEW DEFINITION:
Vaccine– “a preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases.”
I'm just an engineer but if I changed the specifications of one of the many machines I had designed and produced. I'd have the hell sued out of me. IMHO these goal post movements are pretty dramatic. From immunity to "immune response "(WTF IS THAT?) changes the core of the definition.
Old & busted: A vaccine is supposed to produce immunity to a specific disease.
New Hotness: A vaccine is a preparation to stimulate your immune response against a non-specific disease.

We went to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner and all she wanted to talk about during the meal was vaccinations which I pretty much ignored as I played with my grandson who was sitting next to me. At one point she asked me if the employees where I work were required to disclose if they were vaccinated or not. Fortunately for me the group at the table in the booth behind us was very loud and I feigned that I couldn't hear her with all the ruckus going on behind me. My wife explained to her that years working on the flightline in the USAF along with 20 years as a pyrotechnician has caused my hearing to degrade which stopped the line of questioning and prevented me from having to tell her to mind her own ****ing business during a family meal.
I would hate to be so obsessed with something like who is vaccinated that it would dominate my life and conversations.

Here in WV the typical company says either vaccine or recovery from the bug... but if you do not have one or the other then they are requiring masks. Personally I think masks don't work but there are now hiring signs all over the place. I'm wondering how long it will take before the companies decide they need employees over masks.
We live in interesting times.

It is just bad opinions that are being censored.
It’s just the economy. It is just small business owners who are suffering financially. It is just poor people who are suffering financially. It is just people of color who are suffering financially. It is just financial suffering. It is just a few small businesses that had to close permanently. It is just a few big businesses that closed.
It is just not going farther than a few kilometers from your house. It is just a curfew. It is just a permission slip. It is just being alone for two weeks. It is just being socially isolated for one year.
It is just one vaccine. It is just one set of booster shots. It is just regular booster shots every six months. It is just another two weeks. It is just one more lock-down. It is just once a week—twice tops—that you will have to prove that you are fit to participate in society. It is just the unvaccinated that will be segregated from society. It is just a medical test.

But when you add up all the “justs,” it amounts to our entire lives.
For over a year and a half and counting, we have been robbed of the ability to live our lives fully, to make meaningful choices for ourselves, and to express our values the way we see fit.
It is “just” the inability to express our humanity and the total negation of our very selves. All of these measures have served as a prohibition of expressing outwardly one’s valid and complex internal reality. This kind of suppression of self does violence to one’s very soul.
All of these supposedly little and supposedly short-lived “justs” have transformed us into totalitarian states from which there appears to be no endpoint.
In New York City, California, Australia, etc., the people have permitted government such control over our daily lives that we have to ask it for permission to control our bodies, to move freely, to practice religion, to educate our children ourselves, to protest, etc.
Soon Biden, Trudeau, and other world leaders are going to clamp down on our ability to express ourselves and to associate with each other online so that we can no longer question, object to, or organize against government action. It is the destruction of democracy.
It astounds me that my Progressive friends — the same ones who claim to support “social justice” — are welcoming a fascist society in which government crushes any opposition and individuals cannot make choices about their own lives.
I will not comply because I do not want to live in the society that is being created by extraordinary submissiveness to government. I do not want to be complicit in this era’s atrocities.
What is the point of living if one merely exists to obey the elite to one’s own detriment? Is it even living if one lacks the agency to direct one’s life? I’ve already submitted in contradiction of my values to a shameful extent. One might say, “Well, what’s one more compromise,” but it won’t be just one more compromise. It will be just the next cut in a slow death by a thousand cuts.
Submitting only validates tyrannical displays of power and ensures that there will be more such displays in the future.
And what does one get for compromising? Merely your continued membership in a society that will only have you if you immolate yourself and become nothing more than a reflection of the desires of the ruling class.
If you cannot be truly yourself in a society, is that society worth clinging to? I think not. As much as leaving the stability of my comfort zone terrifies me, staying in it means continuing to silence and shrink myself for a disingenuous feeling of acceptance. In that way, it is more of a discomfort zone.
Each time I expressed my fears about the future direction of society, my friends said “it won’t happen.” Each time it did happen, they shrugged their shoulders and reminded me that compliance was an option.
At this point, if the government were to cart me away to an internment camp (which is not a completely far-fetched notion and which has happened in the past) for being a dangerous dissident I am certain that my friends and family would watch it happen and say it was my fault for not complying.
They are no longer capable of recognizing the humanity of the opposition or of questioning government.
I will not submit because I don’t want to live in a world in which my supposed allies would happily see me persecuted by the government.
I will not comply because the political climate has become so censorial, authoritarian, and generally toxic that my viewpoints will never be represented in the political process here. Without representation, my values and beliefs will be violated again and again by a polity that sees any deviation from itself as invalid.
Thus, my compliance will provide zero assurance of any better treatment in the future.
I will not bend because I am not a conformist.
I will not give in because I do not want to reward government manipulation and coercion.
I will not surrender because I could die at any moment, and I do not want my final memories to be ones of craven submission to tyranny and the resultant misery and self-loathing.
I will not comply because it is not the government’s first intrusion on my body, mind, and spirit; and if we comply, it will definitely not be the last. All I will accomplish by my compliance is validating the government’s claim on my body and life.
I am not submitting because this is war, and I am not handing the enemy its victories.
I will not comply because the reward for compliance will still be being treated as a second class-citizen by society.
I won’t acquiesce because I am a conscientious objector.
I will not cede because the measures are unnecessary and the only practical effect will be to increase government power.
I don’t comply because I do not want to be a mere slave in the future version of the world they are creating, doing only what I am told to do and having to beg for access to the necessities of life that I am entitled to as a living being on this earth.
I will not yield because their religion is not my religion, and I refuse to worship a false idol.
I will not capitulate because I do not want to betray my ancestors and predecessors who fought for me to be free.
I will not surrender because freedom is more important than convenience and ease.
I will not comply because if I did I would be filled with rage against society, resentment towards my friends and family, and self-loathing that would eat me alive. I would become bitter and closed-hearted, and I don’t want that for myself.
All of this is why I won’t “just do it.”.

I understand that and I appreciate their desire not to be made to be vaccinated. I'd probably be the same way even though I did get vaccinated. Just cause they are nurses don't mean shit about whether the vaccine is safe or not. I suspect that what is going to happen is the hospitals will back down until this dies down for good and then fire them. Maybe not... skilled nurses are hard to find nationally and have been for a while. Dunno. :shrug:
My take is deaths directly related to the vaccine are so miniscule as to be a non issue... pretty much the same as with any other vaccine. Deaths from the Sars-2 bug is a different story. I liken it to the lottery except if your number comes up you gonna die.

Our 450,000 person country had 112 cases of covid admitted to all of the hospitals. That is 112/450,000 = 0.0002 or 0.02%. While not 0.00000000 it is damn close but the county uses this to keep the fascism up and to degrade the unvaccinated.

It's worse than just the pure numbers. Not all hospitalizations are alike. Some are like me, ~2 weeks, half of it on supplemental O2, IOW serious in one or another degree. But many others are probably like a family friend's 6YO or 8YO who was taken to the hospital for a few hours' observation and then sent home with meds (and now is doing fine). If such people are admitted to the hospital, it's a hospitalization, even if their impact on the hospital was a bed linens change.

Kind of surprised this is still up. TV station wanted stories about hospitalized unvaccinated people. The report didn't go well for them.
