You join for free, you create your own book using their templates or your own word processing program, design the cover, and submit it...POOF!! Instant publishing. No moolah.      Amazon's self-publishing arm has an OPTION for professional layout of covers and content, which costs. Not that this moron has one word on paper, I'm sure.
