Hey DUmbasses, SOMEONE is paying. ALWAYS paying. Doctors don't work for free. Nurses don't work for free. Electricity costs money since they don't work for free.


HOWEVER......... I don't remember signing up to take any of you mfers to raise. Pay your own damn bills. Insurance is just that, insurance. It's not "you pay 50 bucks per month and get a $5,000 procedure done" kind of deal. It DAMN sure won't if the government takes it over either. No, they'll look at your value and decide if you're worth it or not. See NICE in the UK.

Reality:

Whether by insurance companies or Medicare, doctors and hospitals are nickled-and-dimed and arm-twisted - only Medicare does the latter - into accepting payments that often/usually are near or below actual costs. Doctors and hospitals charge higher amounts to private pay people to make up for the losses from insurance an Medicare.

Doctors also limit duration of office visits (so they can do more per day) and changed from individual practice into group practices (so the work of office staff is shared and fewer staff are needed). Hospital stays have also been shortened, and the number of beds in an area have not kept pace with population growth.

My understanding has long been that Congress could act within it's Constitutional power over interstate commerce and pass a law saying health insurance can be sold across state lines.  That act changes the various calculations insurance companies use to figure how much they need from each customer to cover the rest, and the larger pools would result in lower insurance costs.  Anyone know if I'm completely missing the mark?

If my assumption is correct, why are the moonbats not pushing for such a simple solution?  Rhetorical question, they don't because it doesn't involve increasing government power and influence in everyday life.

Probably because Trump pushed for it.  I don't know why it didn't gain a lot of traction.  The most I heard was some talking head on TV saying "it's more complicated than that."
