To be honest I am not good at word problems....

I am trying to convert US gas prices to GB petrol prices....

L1.40 bps per liter versus ~$3.71
conversion rate $1.60 to L1bps

How do I figure this out?? thanx Tania

First, figure out the number of liters in a gallon:  1 gallon is 3.79 Liters

Then figure out the price per gallon in British pounds.  Approximately 5.31 pounds for a gallon of gas

Then convert pounds to dollars: Currently 1 pounds is about $1.60, so it ends up being about $8.50 for a gallon of gas in Britain.

it's L5.60 to the gallon so i multiply that by .62?

You should be as old as me. I can remember when farm use gas 11.9 cent a gallon and diesel fuel was a 10.9 cent a gallon.
...and once while daddy ran a country store in 1957 we were selling highway use gas for 12.9 cent a gallon.
