**** any rightwing asshole who's jumping for joy over Spitzer's ordeal & that includes Olbermann

Olbermann reminds me of a mirror image of Rush Limbaugh the way he jumps all over one of our own before all the details are even in.

If Spitzer is guilty as charged, then he royally ****ed up, but Olbermann just couldn't wait to beat everyone to the punch in pointing out what a hypocrite Spitzer is and blah blah blah with his little panel of goofballs (except the one guy pictured on the left).

I don't know about you, but I'm sick over this Spitzer ordeal. Me and all of my fellow New York Democrats were so proud of this guy the way he stormed in and took back the Governorship for all of us here in NY. I posted last year how I thought Spitzer was going to be a future Democratic president for sure. Now it looks like it's all down the tubes because of Spitzer's incredulous ****-up.

This is really a nightmare and I hope that I'm not really posting right now and that I wake up and Spitzer's good name will still be intact in the morning.

It's just sickening. What's also sickening is how any so-called Democrats could take such pleasure in seeing Spitzer go down in flames, post after post after post. I don't understand how any Democrat can take pleasure in this.

This is a real bad day for Democrats, and if you're jumping for joy over the Spitzer tragedy, then you simply aren't a Democrat AFAIC.

6. "If Spitzer is guilty..." .dude, he CONFESSED today in a press conference....

Other than that, I'm not happy about what this does to Democrats.... except for this:

A) The new NY Governor will be the first black governor of NY and the first BLIND governor in the country's history. That's a pretty cool side effect.

B) Olbermann is the best thing to happen in the MSM since right-wing talk radio took off in the '90s. It's equal time... and the only reason you don't like him is because he's seen through the Hillary facade and you aren't emotionally ready to deal with that yet.

Please quit talking about "Spitzer's good name". He is an embarrassment to the party... and he HAS no "good name" any more.

29. Here you go.... his words....

“I have acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family and violates my or any sense of right or wrong. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public to whom I promised better. I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself. I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family.”

This statement was in response to the charge that he paid a prostitute for sex.

If you are charged with paying a prostitute for sex, and you answer that you have "acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family", you are admitting you did it.

43. You are just being silly now. In no way did he confess to anything like you said

He apologized for unspecified personal actions. He made NO confession, and you can't show me any link to any confession because one does not exist. Maybe a confession will happen, maybe it won't, but that remains to be seen.

mtnsnake is just delaying the inevitable. Spitzer hasnt confessed about *what* he did yet, but he has confessed to doing something against his family and the public who trusted him.

11. Am not even in the US and I supported him totally. I don't think he is involved in any 'prostitution ring'. Most likely, he was an adulturer and I hope this blows over. Not that I agree with anyone being an adulterer. I just cannot see a Dem being involved in anything nefarious. Let's just hope the talking heads are way over their assumptions!
yeah, cause Dems are just that pure.. good grief.  :whatever:

73. The wording pissed me off - "involved in a prostitution ring"...

does that mean that if I (completely hypothetically, of course) bought a few little Ziploc half-sandwich sized bags of "tree" from the skateboard punk with the dreads that hangs out at the park, am I suddenly "involved in a drug ring"?

well, i'm no lawyer but i think the answer would be "yes" ..

You don't go around making your name busting up prostitution rings and then start dipping your wick yourself.

And let's face it: we all had a lot of fun with Larry Craig.

Bottom line: don't want to get caught doing crimes? Don't commit crimes.

until proven guilty. He was an advocate against that, and suddenly he is going against his principles, don't think so. Just let us wait and see. He is not guilty as yet!

did these kids see the same press conference the rest of us did?? cause, i SAW the guy say he went against his own principals. even when a Dem tells the truth, these dufus's dont believe them! incredible.

78. Let me explain it to you (seriously)

It's not the fact that he got laid outside of his marriage. It's not even the fact that he apparently paid for it - and let's face it, when they have him on tape and he holds a press conference to apologize, it's pretty obvious that he was a customer.

It's not even the fact that prostitution is illegal. I don't believe it should be, or that it's morally bad. Cheating on your spouse is bad, but it's not the electorate's business. None of that is the problem.

It's the fact that in 2004, as attorney general, he busted a high-end prostitution ring that was operating out of Staten Island and put 16 or 18 people in jail. At the time he told the court that while it was a very sophisticated operation and run just like a real company etc., at bottom it was nothing more than a prostitution ring. It was part of his image as a moral crusader against all kinds of fraud and vice. And that squeaky-clean image helped him get elected as governor.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C01E1D9...

Now he turns out to have been a patron of the very same sort of business he denounced and prosecuted when he was AG. That's about as hypocritical as you can get.

I hope, for his sake, that his extramarital activities are pretty recent. If he turns out to be a long-time client of this service, eg going back to when he was AG, then it might turn out that he was prosecuting one escort business while using the services of another, and then he'd come up on a raft of corruption charges.

86. You know, I do not think even Gov Spitzer would be so silly, given all that he has done. Let's just wait for him to speak before crucifying him. Sorry folks, the Republicans have done so much shit over the past 7 years that even if this Governor is screwing an individual, that really does not bother me. Too much more important issues to address. Am sorry for his wife but women cheat too, not that am excusing him but I am pretty much sure he will not join a ring that he busted up.

ok, akbacchus needs to be put on a watch of some sort.

You hit the nail on the head. He supported Hillary so that makes him the enemy...doesn't matter that he's a fellow Democrat. I can't believe some people can be so hateful. They jump at every opportunity to badmouth anyone who supports Hillary.

"It depends on what the meaning of the words 'is' is."  Right, trousersnake? :rotf:

The DUmbasses have been waaaay out on a limb for a long time with their over the top celebrations of petty Republican scandals and attempts to claim the moral highground. They should've known this was going to happen eventually, but in true childlike fashion, they couldn't help themselves. Suck on it, DUmmies.

First of all, this clip, originally provided to me by Sonnabend (thank you, my Aussie friend!), describes my reaction to the news . . .

It is incredibly embarassing to my state, but there's a certain sort of irony here, as Spitzer's campaign had the slogan, "Day One, Everything Changes."  Oh, did it!  :rotf:

Coach, I guarantee that there will be something out of the State Capitol that will send the DUmb****s further down today.  Don't know what, but there will be something.  :evillaugh:

Like pointing your finger and saying "I did not have sex with that woman..." :-)

I think their going on about innocent until proven guilty is rather laughable in that this is a REAL crime yet they accuse President Bush of all sorts of fabricated (and unstated) ones.

I think it is delicious that the "impeachment" word is being floated out of Albany.  The scuzzbucket had best resign, or the only taste of impeachment the DUmmies are going to get this election year will be, once again, democrat-flavored.

I've met Jim Tedisco before.  Many years ago, when George Pataki was being inaugurated the first time.  But, I somewhat doubt that Sheldon Silver, the Democratic Speaker of the Assembly, would be for it.  (I said somewhat.  I hope I'm wrong.)

You are right--that will be the only "impeachment" going on this year.

Taxman, couldn't agree more.

Interesting that the DUmmies and the media last might are focused on that word "HYPOCRISY!". I guess as long as you aren't strident about certain laws and don't profess to be a law & order kind of guy, when you get caught with your pants down breaking the law, it's just an oopsie. *eyeroll*

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. Stupid is as DUmmys post.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
