Justice Kennedy blocks gay marriage ruling in Idaho, Nevada
« on: October 08, 2014, 11:01:20 AM »
WASHINGTON –  Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has temporarily blocked an appeals court ruling that declared gay marriage legal in Idaho and Nevada.

The order came minutes after Idaho on Wednesday filed an emergency request for an immediate stay. The state's request said that without a stay, state and county officials would have been required to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples at 10 a.m. EDT.

Kennedy's order requested a response from the plaintiffs involved in Idaho's gay marriage lawsuit by the end of day Thursday.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declared gay marriage legal in Idaho and Nevada on Tuesday, a day after the U.S. Supreme Court effectively legalized same-sex marriage in 30 other states.

In todays Liberal world Is not marriage just a legal contract between two people as is any other contract as to buy a car or set up a business  ???

As the State government comes in here and a license must be bought in order to make a marriage legal, money has to be put down for the privilege of being allowed to under the law marry, same as to get a drivers license or register a car ??? I have to pay money to get my dogs registered with the town.  Then not all contracts are legal in other states.

Contracts are tricky,   all on the contract must be in sound body and know what they are agreeing to.  This lets out singing a contract with  Aunt Nelly who has been in a coma for 2 years

Humans that decide to make a contract between them selves for any reason, be it sex or just a partnership that and friendship to benefit them both  see no reason for them to not take advantage of the laws that others get.

Problem is the word Marriage, this is a word and a life style to protect he children that comes from such a union.
Marriage has no place excepting cooking and those with children.

People that want a Civil union, both signed a contract, no problem, let them go for it, they are signing a contract of some kind and will have one heck of a way getting out of it.  Same as heading for the town hall to pay for a marriage license.  A contract  broken will cost  one of the signers 20 years of grief.

Two humans that wish to for some reason [marry ] into a outside and strange life style for them, they were not brought up this way, let them go for it, when they get old and have no children or grand children to visit them in their last day, or old friends to visit them.
