Ok, guys, question.
I have been trying to teach myself to work on computers. My wife's computer went crazy about a month ago and I finally found the Intel Pentium 4 processor bad. It would work fine for several hours and then do crazy things.
But here is my question. The computer she has has hyper-threading enabled in BIOS. But as I look at processors the non-hyper-threading processors seem to be cheaper that the hyper-threading processors.
I looked at articles online and think I understand a litter about hyper-threading. Basically, if I understand correctly, it allows on core to act like two cores but not as efficiently as two cores.
Now. I would ask you computer geeks to help me understand the advantages of hyper-threading on vs. hyper-threading off. Is one better than the other.
My wife doesn't do anything fancy with the computer. Basically she uses it in her embroidery work, going on face book, e-mailing some; that kind of stuff.
Thanks.
