Maui Electric pushing back on fire responsibility accusations and bringing receipts

There have been some pretty damning videos of lines on the ground and fires in the area near them, but today Hawaiian Electric said, “That wasn’t us.” And dropped a bombshell about the power running through the lines.

According to the power company, they’d gotten to the scene of the 6:30 morning fire with firefighters, and gotten the power shut off right then. Linemen stayed in the area until the fire crews got the fire under control and declared it extinguished.

Later, HECO crews returned to repair the damaged poles from the morning, and, while in the middle of repairing and clearing that, they spotted another fire breaking out in a nearby field.

The company says electricity had never been turned back on.

Residents in the area are convinced it was the first fire which reignited, and then took off on a destructive, raging path towards Lahaina proper.

Whatever people believe was the cause of the second blaze at 3 pm, HECO says it has the receipts as far as shutting the juice down and leaving it off.

If HECO actually fights in court using facts instead of rolling over like PG&E does, this could get interesting.

San Francisco police union on bakery's anti-gun policy: "that's directed at police officers"

Reem’s California is a San Francisco bakery that refused to serve a police officer at its Mission District cafe. The San Francisco police union is blasting the establishment, accusing it of “anti-police bigotry.”

The bakery has a policy that bans firearms from its restaurants, including police officers in uniform. Their policy is a strict one.

The San Francisco Police Officers Association (SPOA) is pushing back and posted on X (formerly Twitter) that an officer was denied service at the Mission Street Reem’s California. The reason was because he was in uniform. He was told there was a policy against serving anyone “armed and in uniform.”

SPOA should leaflet the area letting residents know that Reem’s California is a police-free building unless called to deal with an incident.

That Reem’s California's owner pretends to believe that thugs would comply with their gun-free policy is simply not credible.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES: BIDEN USED SECRET ADDRESSES FOR OVER 5,400 EMAILS

A search conducted by the National Archives and Records Administration turned up nearly 5,400 records containing one of three pseudonymous email accounts President Joe Biden had used during his vice presidency. Those email addresses include: robinware456@gmail.com, JRBWare@gmail.com, and Robert.L.Peters@pci.gov.

NARA was responding to a June 2022 Freedom of Information Act request from the Southeastern Legal Foundation, a nonprofit constitutional legal group.

In a June 28, 2022 letter to SLF, NARA wrote: “We have performed a search of our collection for Vice Presidential records related to your request and have identified approximately 5,138 email messages, 25 electronic files and 200 pages of potentially responsive records that must be processed in order to respond to your request.”

Since that letter was written 14 months ago, SLF has heard nothing from NARA. This prompted the group to file a lawsuit against the agency on Monday to obtain the records alluded to in NARA’s initial response.

According to a website announcement of this legal action, SLF noted they filed their first request for Biden’s emails in 2021:

New York is bankrupting itself with migrant shelters

Unless you’re a local, you may have never heard of Randall’s Island in New York City. It typically doesn’t generate a lot of headlines, but it will soon. It’s a nice, small island located between the East River and the Harlem River and it has public parks, sports fields, and several other amenities. But now there are massive metallic structures being constructed there where as many as 2,000 illegal migrants will be housed, courtesy of the taxpayers of the state. Governor Kathy Hochul has secured funding to provide $20 million per month to cover the cost of the shelter. That works out to $10,000 per month for every migrant being given a bed there. And the locals can forget about using the parks and the sports fields. This is beyond ridiculous and it needs to end. (NY Post)

New York taxpayers will dole out $20 million a month to house migrants on Randall’s Island, according to a state source — or $10,000 per asylum-seeker if the site fills all of its 2,000 beds.

The makeshift facility off Manhattan is one of four migrant housing sites fully funded by the state as part of a desperate effort to keep up with the flood of migrants who have New York City at its breaking point.

A well-placed source with the state told The Post over the weekend that the state is providing $20 million a month to run the Randall’s center.

The mayor’s latest estimate is that state and city taxpayers will be shelling out $12 billion (with a “B”) over the next three years to cover the cost of all of the migrant facilities being established. And that’s just for the migrants that are here now. More are coming every week.

The loss of Randall’s Island Park to the public is particularly stinging. There have already been protests, but they appear to be falling on deaf ears. And the money should send a shockwave through all of the legal residents of the Big Apple. Just think about that figure for a moment. $20 million dollars per month for 2,000 beds under a collection of what are basically long, metal sheds. Do you know how many cops you could hire and pay with $20 million per month? You could have the city cleaned up by Christmas.

Interesting, but not unexpected, that NARA doesn't say what "processing" entails. But it no doubt means redacting SharterJoe's illegal activities. Slow-walking and obstruction is a cornerstone of the Barry/SharterJoe mal-administration.

New York City and New York State called themselves Sanctuary City and State. How is that working out?

They got what they deserved. They have central park when that’s full they can make the residents take in a couple.
Plus I am sure there’s a lot of places that can share the wealth and take 10 or 15 thousand.
