This Los Angeles 7-Eleven solved the homeless problem outside its store by playing "Africa" by Toto on loop

I'm not exactly sure how this works, but a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles is now attempting to solve its homeless problem in a unique way. They're playing the best song ever created in the history of mankind, Africa by Toto, on a loop.

And, unable to bask in its greatness for more than a few repeats, the homeless people have abandoned the area around the store.



You tell me there's a store where they play nothing but "Africa" by Toto and I respond, "Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you!"

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from that store.

But the homeless folks in LA are either overcome by the beauty and have to flee from its presence or have absolutely no taste for the finer things in life.

This is similar to the Austin homeless who left a 7-Eleven alone because they played opera on full blast.

This 7-Eleven in Austin is blaring opera music to keep the homeless away. It's working.

First stage of Chinese rocket crashes in Chinese city

Locals in the city of Shangluo, population over two million located in central China, today released video images of the remains of the first stage of a Long March 2C rocket that launched yesterday and apparently crashed in the city.

The image to the right is a screen capture. Since this two-stage rocket uses extremely toxic hypergolic fuels in both of its stages, those citizens wandering around the rocket’s remains are in great health danger.

Shangluo is a moderate-sized - by Chinese standards - city in SE Shaanxi Proving, a bit SE of the 6x larger city of Xi'an.

Kentucky Board of Nursing retracts ‘implicit bias’ training requirement after media coverage

A report from the Washington Examiner on July 28 revealed that the Kentucky Board of Nursing had issued a requirement for licensed nurses to complete an “implicit bias” training, based on a capture of the Board’s website in August 2022.

The training included “highly racialized content” that sources told the Examiner had “very little to do with nursing.”

Two days after the Examiner published its report, the KBN edited its homepage (compare July 27 to July 28) to reflect that the implicit bias training was no longer mandatory.

The purpose of @#$% requirements like this is to weed out or discourage "certain people" from entering professions.

Isn’t it fascinating when we’re given a peek behind the curtain to witness the world’s largest polluter abandoning the Paris Agreement? All the while, the United States and other western nations are crippling their economies and burdening their citizens with unnecessary costs in the pursuit of combating climate change.

As Diana Furchtgott-Roth reports, China’s President Xi Jinping has reiterated his stance that China will not be swayed by outside factors in determining its own approach to emissions. This announcement was made, rather ironically, while former secretary of state John Kerry was visiting Beijing in hopes of rekindling dialogue on climate change.

Target has taken a huge hit since May and its controversy with marketing “tuck-friendly items,” as well as LGBTQ+ items aimed toward children and clothing by someone who claimed he was a Satanist.

That did not go well for them, as they dealt with the “Bud Light” effect.

The company has faced huge losses; at one point, it had lost $15 billion in market cap. It was over $74 billion before the controversy, and it’s at $60.3 billion now. Target also received multiple downgrades, and part of the reason listed was the “recent company controversies” as well as “diminishing store traffic.”

Now they’re also facing a lawsuit by a shareholder, filed on Tuesday, alleging that the toadying to the radical left has cost shareholders billions.

Target has abandoned their fiduciary duty.

"Desperate"? Hardly. Here's the context into which this move fits:

* Starchucks has been in Target stores for a decade or two (or more?);

* When Covid shutdowns hit, Target made curbside pick-up a major part of their business model (as did other stores, e.g. Walmart);

* When Covid shutdowns loosened and then no longer affected it, Target kept the curbside pick-up, even though it reduced in-store traffic, because customers liked the convenience.

In this context, including Starchucks beverages and eats in Target's curbside pick-up was a natural move. It's more $$ flowing into the store generally, and into Target's partner Starchucks particularly. It is likely that this move was test-marketed before the whole self-inflicted trans-kerfuffle.

I don't spend a cent in either of them. 

Convenient or not, for somebody who is physically able, getting off your ass and going into the store (Walmart or wherever) to buy your grub, cart it out to your car, and load it in your vehicle, shouldn't be difficult.

Nope. I'm convinced it's more a sign of someone who's lazy. Sorta like the asshats who can't be bothered to move their shopping cart over to the corral and just leave it infesting a parking space.
