The ruling Taliban government in Afghanistan has said it will not work with the Biden administration to target terrorists and extremists in the country, which could mean that such groups will flourish there again as they did under the first Taliban regime ahead of the U.S. invasion in 2001 following the 9/11 attacks.

“We are able to tackle Daesh independently,” said Taliban political spokesman Suhail Shaheen, who was using the Arabic acronym for the terrorist group ISIS, in a statement to The Associated Press.

The Daily Wire added:

Concerns about Afghanistan continue to mount after the United States’ disastrous withdrawal led to the terrorist group Taliban taking over in August. On Saturday, the Taliban said it would not work with the U.S. to combat extremism in the country, insisting it would handle other terrorist groups like ISIS on its own.

The statement comes just hours before senior Taliban officials and representatives from the U.S. are set to meet to discuss extremist groups and evacuating the remaining U.S. citizens and Afghans with special visas from Afghanistan. The Taliban’s statement regarding cooperation on containing extremism could complicate the meeting.

Biden officials are preparing to ask the Taliban to uphold a prior commitment to allow Americans the administration left behind in Afghanistan to leave as well as other foreign nationals including Afghanis who assisted the United States during the 20-year conflict.

But given the ruling regime’s reluctance to work with the Biden administration on terrorism, it’s not likely the Taliban will be in any mood to cooperate in other areas.

“The weekend meetings in Doha are the first since U.S. forces withdrew from Afghanistan in late August, ending a 20-year military presence, and the Taliban rose to power in the nation. The U.S. has made it clear the talks are not a preamble to recognition,” the AP reported.

“The talks also come on the heels of two days of difficult discussions between Pakistani officials and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman in Islamabad. The focus of those talks was also Afghanistan. Pakistani officials urged the U.S. to engage with Afghanistan’s new rulers and release billions of dollars in international funds to stave off an economic meltdown,” the AP added.

Officials with neighboring Pakistan’s government also pressed the Taliban to recognize and respect human rights while also protecting their country’s ethnic and religious minorities.

Pakistan officials also implored the Taliban to be more inclusive by recognizing human rights and Afghanistan’s minority ethnic and religious groups.

The terrorism pushback comes amid one of the country’s most deadly suicide bombings in years, as the AP reported:

Afghanistan’s Shiite clerics assailed the Taliban rulers following Friday’s attack demanding greater protection at their places of worship. The IS affiliate claimed responsibility and identified the bomber as a Uygher Muslim. The claim said the attack targeted both Shiites and the Taliban for their purported willingness to expel Uyghers to meet demands from China. It was the deadliest attack since foreign troops left Afghanistan at the end of August.

Some experts believe that the attack is just the start of a new terror campaign that is very likely to spill over into the region, if not migrant globally, especially as the Taliban regime appears set to appease China in an effort to take advantage of Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative, which funds infrastructure projects in countries in exchange for use by China.

“The Taliban has previously made several commitments while insisting it is a more moderate group than what is known internationally. One of those commitments – to allow women to hold positions in the government – has already been broken,” The Daily Wire added.

Also, the Taliban has stopped paying foreign electricity providers, and there have already been blackouts in the capital of Kabul.
Biden humiliated again. This was his bargain to withdraw. Lefty screws everything up.

Of course terrorism will flourish in A-stan. What else is there in that 3rd world shithole besides mountains, rocks, poppies, and terrorists?

Why would the Taliban work with Gropey Joe's thugs to get rid of an entity that's inherent to the Taliban itself?

Every Democrat president ends up making the world a more dangerous place simply because they are unable to be a world leader and they don't believe the US should be the "leader of the free world".
