Elementary arithmetic.
The Senate has 100 members and 57 voted to impeach which equals 57%.
Public Opinion polls all week from the likes of Gallup, Rasmussen, Zogby,
Mason-Dixon, Survey USA; which are hardly leftist, found that 55-60% of
those who voted believed Trump complicit in inciting insurrection.
Your stats appear to be off by 7%. This Rasmussen poll of "likely" U.S. voters, taken around 25 January, states half those surveyed believe Trump committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
A Gallup poll, taken a week or so later, says 52%.
Now your Zogby poll, states 58.6% - but let's look at who was surveyed -- young people. They believe Trump abused power and obstructed Congress, which is not the same as "high crimes and misdemeanors."
As to your claim about cited polls being "hardly leftist" that's a matter of opinion. Since you clearly favor "elementary arithmetic" (which is not the same thing as statistics, of course), those polls were taken before the trial. And before the house managers trotted out their "evidence."
It didn't take long for those senators who were paying attention to realize the evidence presented was "doctored" (to use Van Der Veen's term) and for the defense to call them on said doctored evidence.
I would suggest that if those polls were taken today, that number you cite of 57% would be significantly less.
And for someone who's been on this forum for a few years -- I'd suggest you take your condescension and stow it. Phrases like "messianic" and "elementary arithmetic" illustrate a level of arrogance that is becoming clearer with every additional post of yours.
